Nick and Darryl climbed onto the island where an active volcano was present. They could see volcanic rocks erupting from the volcano, and Darryl became nervous.

"Uh, Nick, maybe we should just wait for your wish to run out." Darryl told Nick.

"No way! I'm not gonna rest until we rescue Sonny from Francis!" Nick told Darryl.

"But we only have two lives left!" Darryl reminded Nick.

"Correction; you have two lives, I have three." Nick reminded Darryl. At that point, one of the volcanic rocks fell on Nick, causing him to lose a life. He respawned where he was.

"Okay, that was on me. I got too cocky. No more of that from here on out." Nick told Darryl.

"It's very hot here. We need to keep ourselves cool." Darryl said as he took out the two ice cream cones he saved from the ice mountain. He handed one to Nick and ate the other one. The boys suddenly gained ice powers. At that point, a living flame walked up to them. The boys used their ice powers to put the flame out.

"Cool!" they said simultaneously. They ran across the island, dodging the falling volcanic rocks and using their ice powers to put out the other living flames along the way. They soon came up to a pool of lava with stone platforms in it.

"Kind of brings a whole new meaning to 'The floor is lava', doesn't it?" Nick asked Darryl. The two carefully hopped across the platforms and soon made it to the other side. They could see the goal flag, but before they could touch it, a giant living flame emerged from the lava pool. The boys furiously used their ice powers to put the flame out until it was gone.

"Only we can prevent video game fires." Nick told Darryl. Darryl tossed Nick into the air, and Nick raised the goal flag. They could see Frankie's castle and hear Princess Sonny shouting "HELP!"

"That's Sonny! Come on, Darryl, let's show Francis who's boss!" Nick told Darryl, and he ran towards the castle, with Darryl following behind him. Frankie looked down at them from the roof of his castle.

"Heh. Nick and Darryl ain't as stupid as they look, but I ain't gonna give you up so easily!" Frankie told Sonny.

"You'll never get away with this, Francis!" Sonny told Frankie, angering him.

"Nobody... calls... me... FRANCIS!" He exclaimed. He stomped the floor, causing the floors of his castle to fall and form ramps. He then started grabbing boulders and rolling them down the ramps. As Nick and Darryl climbed up the ramps and ladders, Nick used his hammer and Darryl used his monkey wrench to smash the boulders into pebbles. They soon made it to the roof of the castle.

"It's game over, Francis, for you!" Nick boasted.

"Never call me Francis!" Frankie said to Nick, and he charged at him and Darryl. Nick and Darryl jumped and dodged Frankie, then they made it to the lever that activated a trap door.

"Yoo-hoo, Francis!" Nick taunted as he stood next to the lever. Frankie charged at Nick, who pulled the lever, activating the trap door. Frankie fell through the trap door and screamed.

"See you next fall!" Nick taunted.

"That was easy." Nick told Darryl.

"A little too easy." Darryl said nervously.

"Who cares? Now we can rescue Sonny and win the game." Nick told Darryl. As he walked towards the tower Sonny was imprisoned in, Frankie climbed back up to the roof of the castle and confronted Nick.

"I ain't gonna let you near my cousin, McClary!" Frankie said, revealing he was holding a giant papaya. He ate it, and he grew until he was a giant, laughing wickedly when he reached that point. Darryl was extremely nervous.

"Nick, we've got to get out of here, now!" Darryl told Nick.

"Don't worry, Darryl, we still have two lives left." Nick assured Darryl. At that point, the giant Frankie stomped on them, causing each of them to lose a life. They respawned where they were.

"Make that one." Darryl told Nick. Sonny could see the boys were in grave danger, so she decided to help them.

"Boys, catch!" she shouted as she tossed a pair of chili peppers at them. The boys ate them and got their fire powers back.

"Thanks, Sonny!" they said together. Suddenly, Nick had an idea. He and Darryl were going to attack Frankie's weak point; his big, dumb head.

"You'll never defeat us, Francis!" Nick taunted, knowing this would set him off.

"NOBODY... CALLS... ME... FRANCIS!" Frankie shouted, and he stomped furiously, causing debris to rain down. Nick and Darryl hopped across the debris, and when they got to Frankie's head, they tossed flames at him.

"Ow!" the giant Frankie shouted. He wasn't going to let the boys get away with that. He tried to stomp them again, but this time they dodged. However, instead of getting hit by Frankie's foot, this time, they got hit by debris and shrank.

"Oh, no! Another hit and we're goners!" Darryl told Nick, and Frankie raised his fist at them.

"I'm gonna enjoy this!" he exclaimed. Darryl ran away, not wanting to lose his last life, but Nick was barely conscious.

"Say goodbye, McClary!" Frankie told Nick. Sonny wasn't going to let Nick lose his last life to Frankie, so she brought out a giant papaya and tossed it at Nick. Nick saw the papaya and with his last ounce of strength, he ate it. Nick soon grew to the size of a giant once again.

"Thanks, Sonny!" he said, and knowing this power would only last a short time, he turned to the giant Frankie.

"Why don't you pick on someone your own size, Francis?", the giant Nick said to the giant Frankie just before pushing him towards the tower Sonny was imprisoned in. Frankie backed into the tower, destroying it and causing him to lose both his giant powers and consciousness. Sonny screamed as she fell from the tower, but then she landed in the giant Nick's right hand.

"Thanks for saving me." Sonny said to the giant Nick.

"No problem." the giant Nick said to Sonny as he set her down. The effect of the giant papaya wore off and Nick shrank back to his normal size. Darryl returned and saw that Nick had defeated Frankie and saved Sonny.

"Well done, Nick!" Darryl told Nick.

"How can I ever repay you? I know!" Sonny said. She was about to kiss Nick, but at that moment, Nick's wish had worn off. He, Darryl, Sonny, and Frankie were sucked into a portal, which spit them out into Nick's bedroom through Nick's television set. Nick, Darryl, and Sonny were now all back in their normal attire and landed safely on Nick's bed, while Frankie landed on Nick's floor. Frankie was still unconscious, and he groaned unhappily.

"Nick, we're back in the real world!" Darryl exclaimed. At that point, Mel had come in to check on Nick, Darryl, Sonny, and Frankie.

"Hi, Nick. Did you and your friends enjoy the game?" Mel asked Nick.

"We sure did, Dad." Nick told Mel, not wanting him to suspect the adventure he and Darryl went on.

"I'm afraid I have some bad news. I just found out that Nontendo is issuing a voluntary recall of Super Maria Sisters IV. An early beta of the game was accidentally sent to certain video game stores in limited quantities, and as a result, people who bought it have complained that the game was worse than the original Super Maria Sisters trilogy on the regular Nontendo. The final product, with much better graphics and gameplay, will be coming to those who purchased the earliest copies soon, so I'm afraid this means you'll have to wait just a little longer for the finished product, but hopefully that game will be even better than you one you have right now." Mel told Nick as he took the Super Maria Sisters IV cartridge out of the Stupor Nontendo. Nick wasn't fazed, knowing he lived out a much better experience.

"Thanks, Dad. I think I can wait a little longer." Nick told Mel.

"That's good to hear. This recall will make a good story for my newspaper." Mel said as he left, taking the Super Maria Sisters IV cartridge with him. Nick felt a mix of emotions. He was glad that he would soon be getting the polished version of Super Maria Sisters IV, and even then, he got to live out being in a video game, but he suddenly frowned. Darryl noticed this.

"What's wrong, Nick? You just beat the game and rescued Sonny, and you'll be getting the new and improved Super Maria Sisters IV soon!" Darryl reminded Nick.

"Yeah, I know. It's just... my wish wore off before I could get a kiss from Sonny." Nick told Darryl. Sonny happened to overhear.

"Don't worry, Nick. I'll take care of that right now." Sonny told Nick, and as Frankie regained consciousness, Sonny kissed Nick, much to Nick's joy and Frankie's ire.

"MCCLARY! STAY AWAY FROM MY COUSIN!" Frankie shouted, and he began to chase Nick through his house. Nick screamed as Frankie chased him.
