The Capital.
A name that now conjures images of gilded towers casting long shadows over sprawling slums, of opulent feasts enjoyed while desperate citizens starve, of justice twisted beyond recognition by the hands of the powerful.
It is a cesspool of crime, corruption, depravity, and villainy, a monument to the decay of the Empire it represents.
But the rot did not begin with the current regime, nor even with the Empire itself for the ground upon which this city stands has long been fertile soil for darkness.
Long before the colossal walls rose and the Imperial Arms – relics of immense, often terrifying power – were forged, this place was nothing more than a humble village known as Goodsmouth.
An unremarkable settlement by the coast, its early history holds the first stains of the cruelty that would come to define it.
For it was here, in a time of fear and ignorance, that a trio of young girls sowed the seeds of suspicion, accusing eleven fellow villagers of witchcraft.
The ensuing panic and hysteria led directly to the deaths of those accused, a tragic precursor to the systematic brutality that would later become commonplace.
Goodsmouth, though simple, was not innocent of human cruelty.
Even then, unsettling anomalies seemed to cling to the locale such as a lighthouse meant to guide ships through treacherous waters was plagued by frequent, inexplicable breakdowns, as if the very light was resisted by an unseen force.
Later, a wealthy family, seeking to establish their legacy with a grand home, abruptly abandoned their project and fled, deeply traumatized by experiences they never spoke of, leaving behind a shell of their ambition haunted by silence.
The village's dark potential escalated dramatically when it became a chosen ground for punishment.
It was fortified, transformed into a fortress of fear, terror, agony, and nightmares where what began as executions for criminals, murderers, and political dissidents devolved into a systematic regime of torture and mutilation.
This era was largely the domain of a doctor whose name became synonymous with violation of human rights, whose experiments and cruelties against prisoners etched deep scars into the very foundations of the land.
This gruesome history, however, was destined to be buried as the First Emperor, fueled by boundless ambition, sought to forge an Empire that would dominate the world.
He expanded his domain through both war and diplomacy, employing the formidable Imperial Arms to secure his rule and ensure the Empire's survival.
The Capital, built over the layered darkness of Goodsmouth's past, became the heart of this new power structure and as the Emperor reigned, he passed the torch to his descendants, and the narrative of Imperial glory overshadowed the grim tales of what lay beneath.
History, however, remembers, even when men forget for following the opportune deaths of the previous Emperor and Empress – an event many whisper was orchestrated by the man who truly benefited – the young Emperor Makoto ascended the throne.
A naive puppet, he became utterly beholden to his Prime Minister, a figure of immense corruption and depravity for under this man's influence, the Empire descended into its current state: a regime where the elite and those in authority abuse their power without consequence, where the weak and innocent are preyed upon, and where justice is a luxury only the powerful can afford to manipulate or deny.
Against this tide of tyranny, dissent brewed, giving rise to revolutionary forces and clandestine organizations dedicated to striking back against the Empire's wickedness.
Now, a brutal civil war rages, pitting the forces of rebellion against the entrenched power of the corrupt Empire.
The fight is bloody, the stakes are high, and the Capital, the epicenter of this conflict, remains a symbol of all that must be fought against.
Yet, as the human conflict reaches its peak, and following a significant blow to the resistance – the capture of a key assassin group – the air in the Capital grows heavier, the shadows deepen.
The accumulated sins, the forgotten histories of cruelty and suffering, are stirring something ancient and terrible.
Dark forces are poised to descend upon the Capital and they are not the armies of the rebellion, nor the guards of the Emperor but instead, are something else entirely, drawn by the stench of accumulated wickedness.
And as they arrive, the depraved who have reveled in their power and cruelty will finally understand the true meaning of terror.
For the sins of the built-over village, the fortified prison, and the corrupt Empire are coming back, and all within the Capital shall soon know what true evil looks like.
It all began long ago, in a place called Goodsmouth, and it culminates now, after the assassins of Night Raid have been captured...
Well, here it is...
Let's just say that this pops up in my head and who am I to seriously not waste such an opportunity.
So, The Suffering, a third person shooter video game where you take Silent Hill and crank up the gore, shock value and action and what you get is a horror game about your sins, fighting demonic monsters and of course, still being a badass who would also choose between being a good guy, a bad guy or entirely neutral.
Either way, play the game, watch the walkthroughs, see the reviews and see it to believe it.
Anyway, as I stated before however, I have been intending on making sure to keep on making stories after stories because for one, I have a lot of image covers, I want to use them and yet, I am in no rush until my brain can finally have it's creative juices as of lately.
Still, if you have anymore ideas, mainly someone or something that could put more stories to good use, then let me know in the comments below and if you ask me on what to do more on the story, then tell away, review when possible and see what I can offer.
As always...
Ciao...
