Jack turned back from the gate because of laughter behind him. He smiled when he saw Sam talking to one of the planet's natives. She nodded at the man and began the short walk back toward the gate. Looking up, she caught his eye.

She looked at him curiously and he shrugged.

Daniel ran up behind her. He showed a bundle of cloth to Sam, unwrapped it, and revealed the contents, which seemed to glow. He whispered something to her. Sam's eyes widened and she laughed, covering the object quickly with the material.

Jack frowned.

"What's so funny?" he asked Daniel as Sam went to dial the gate.

"Nothing," Daniel replied, shrugging and stuffing whatever it had been back within his coat.

"What is that?" Jack asked as he heard the familiar whoosh behind him.

"Well, if you must know, Jack, the tribesmen gave me a gift for my wife," he said, nodding toward Sam, who grinned back at him.

Jack tried to squelch his annoyance, knowing his jealousy was irrational. He smiled.

"Carter, you could've done so much better."

Daniel frowned, and Sam laughed before disappearing into the watery wormhole.

Jack and Daniel approached the wormhole at the same time.

"Cute, Jack."

"You know, you're not the first to say that," Jack added before Daniel entered the gate.

Jack stepped out of the gate and lifted his heavy gun off his shoulders. General Hammond was waiting for him as he reached the bottom of the ramp.

"How did it go, Colonel?"

"We went, we saw, we had cake, sir. Plus, Daniel and Carter got hitched," Jack answered, getting a raised eyebrow back from Hammond.

"The Yusi gave my wife and I a gift, General," Daniel said, holding up the cloth. "The gift appears to be some sort of energy source, sir. It has inscriptions. Major Carter and I will examine it more closely later."

"Is it harmful?"

"I don't think so, General," Carter answered from beside him. "It was present in all the homes we visited."

"This should make for an interesting briefing. Get cleaned up and meet me in the briefing room in an hour."

"Yes, sir," Jack said, moving off toward lockers. He glanced behind him to see Sam and Daniel laughing over the gift. She touched Daniel's arm lightly. Daniel smiled warmly at her.

Jack's irrational jealousy no longer felt so irrational.
