A/n: This is the third part to 'Perfect Rain' and 'Rainy Wedding', both one-shots. It would be better if you read those first, but not necessary. Enjoy!

Another Rainy Day

"Can we please go outside and jump in puddles?" The sound of rain was constant on the roof.

"No, I'm busy right now."

"But it's supposed to be sunny again tomorrow! This could be my only chance!" Hermione's voice was getting whiny now. She was becoming desperate.

Josh's crayon stopped, mid-scribble. He looked up at his mom. Her eyes were wide and pleading. He sighed. "Okay, mum. But then we have to come right back inside, ok? I don't want to get sick."

Hermione smiled at her red-haired, freckle-faced, four-year-old son. He may look like Ron, but he definitely worked like her.

"Ok. Let's go!" she said, jumping up and running to the door.

Josh stood and walked to the coat closet. He took out a rain slicker and an umbrella.

"Jo-osh! Hurry up!" Hermione called from the door. She bounced on the balls of her feet. She'd been antsy all afternoon, trying to convince her son to go out in the rain with her, and now he was messing with a raincoat?

"I'm coming," he said patiently. He turned and looked at his mom. "You're going out like that?"

She looked down at herself. She was wearing jeans and a jumper. "What's wrong with it?"

He sat down and pulled on green boots. "You're barefoot!"

Hermione wiggled her toes. "And?"

"And you'll get all wet!"

She rolled her eyes. "That's kind of the point!"

Josh stood, taking extra care in straightening his jacket and checking that his boots were on well.

Josh sighed. "Okay, okay. I'm ready."

Hermione needed nothing else. She opened the door and took off at full speed. Josh followed slowly. He stepped onto the porch and pulled the door closed tightly behind him. Opening his umbrella, he walked off the porch into the rain.

Hermione was already out in their yard, twirling and dancing about. She hardly looked like an adult, especially one that worked at the ministry. Josh shook his head. She not only splashed in the puddles of rain, but also ran through mud in the grass, letting it squish through her toes. She ran across the yard, slid across the mud, and fell onto her bottom. And then she laughed.

Hermione stood, and twirled more. She loved days like this. She stopped and looked over at her son. He was standing under his umbrella on the concrete of their driveway. Hermione wondered how she had ended up with such a serious son.

"Come on Josh!" she called.

"I'm gunna stay here. You have fun!" his high-pitched voice called back. He sounded so little, but he was acting more grown-up than she was. She couldn't have that.

She pulled her wand out with a flourish. She had long ago charmed it so it wouldn't ruin in water, and had no worries about it getting wet.

"Accio umbrella!" she called pointing her wand at her son. He shrieked and pulled the hood of his slicker up. The umbrella folded and flew into her outstretched hand. She threw it into the yard so that if he wanted it, he'd have to come get it.

"Mother!" he huffed, crossing his arms. "I'm going inside!"

Hermione sighed. "Accio Josh!" she called again. The spell took effect immediately. He struggled against it, looking like a mime 'walking into the wind,' but then he gave up and floated backwards to his mother.

She wrapped her arms around his middle. Unzipping his raincoat, she tickled his stomach. He squealed, squirming away. He tried to run, but she wouldn't let him.

Josh finally gave in, and the little boy danced in the rain with his mum.
