Takes place 1 year before The Vulcan Academy Murders and leads right through it.

Chapter 1

"Father, I am sure I want to do this. The Federation does need all the help it can get from Vulcan." T'Mar stood with her father Saren while waiting for the Enterprise.

"Yes, I know. Are you sure that you do not want to join Serel's practice?"

"I am sure," T'Mar replied. "There is no going back now."

With that, they both were silent. Then Saren spoke. "What do you know of Dr. McCoy?"

"I have heard that he is a very good doctor. He saved the life of Sarek a few years back. I am honored to be working with him."

Just then, the transporter operator looked up. "The Enterprise has arrived and is ready to beam up."

"Very well. Goodbye, Father. I shall miss you. Give my regards to Starn."

"Goodbye and good luck, T'Mar."

Saren watched as his daughter beamed up, then sighed as he thought of his eldest son, who was upset that his sister had decided to help Starfleet. He walked back home, concerned for his children.

Chapter Two

When T'Mar arrived on the Enterprise she found Captain Kirk and Spock waiting for her, as well as Dr. McCoy.

"Welcome aboard, T'Mar. Live long and prosper," Captain Kirk said.

"Live long and prosper, Captain," T'Mar replied.

"This is Dr. McCoy," he indicated the doctor, "and Spock," Kirk said.

"It is an honor to meet you both," T'Mar said.

"It is an honor to meet you, as well, T'Mar," Dr. McCoy and Spock both said at the same time.

Spock showed T'Mar to her quarters, where she put her belongings. He then showed her down to sickbay. On the way there, T'Mar asked him a question.

"Spock, what is it like aboard the Enterprise?"

"It is a pleasurable experience," Spock replied. Then he asked her a question. "Are you bonded?"

"No. Are you?"

"I was at one time. My bondmate chose another and released me from the bond."

"Why did you ask? I am just curious."

"Would you like to join me for dinner when you get off duty?"

"I would be honored."

They reached sick bay and T'Mar went inside after saying "See you at dinner, Spock."

Spock went back to the bridge after saying goodbye to T'Mar. He thought about her and wondered if she would marry him.
