A Vain Hope
Cold was the feeling, no warmth, no light,
Only the twinkle of the stars and the moon so bright,
Loneliness was the hand that sent me here,
On this wretched place that no one could hear.
Love was the feeling, not anger, nor hate,
Love was the emotion that told me to wait,
Love broaden the last strand of hope,
And kindled the happiness that helped me to cope.
But my wavering hope turned to despair,
And gave me a load that is hard to bear,
Still, I managed to overcome the test,
But the scars it left didn't want me to rest.
