Haruhi stared at Tamaki and the assembled Host Club members in disbelief. "You want me to show you how the 'Common People' go shopping?"
"Of course daughter. We need to see how they manage to buy their wonder noodles, and what they call coffee," Tamaki trumpets over the room.
The look of exasperation directed at him bounces off like a child's rubber ball on concrete. "Today? You want to go today?"
"Of course! There is no time like the present to see these things." Tamaki dramatically looks out the nearest window.
The twins' voices chime in, "Yes! Shop with us Haruhi, shop with us!"
The resigned look from Haruhi says the boys have once again won a round of the, can we or can't we game with her. She regroups with, "What do you want to go shopping for?"
"Food." Tamaki insists.
"Girls clothes," cry the twins.
"Cake!" Honey exclaims.
Mori and Ootori remain quiet except for the scratch of Ootori's pen in his ledger.
"NO!" Haruhi says in a firm voice, trying to wrest control back from its spin into the cosmos. "I am not shopping with you guys again."
"But Haruhi! I want cake," pleads Honey pitifully.
Hikaru and Kaoru glint prettily to each other, before sliding closer to her. One to each side they purr, "The best thing for you to wear will be our prize."
"No, definitely not! I am not a game, you two."
"You're not?" one questions. "You're sure?" asks the other.
"Kasan, Haruhi is being mean again. Tell her she has to take me shopping," Tamaki whines to Ootori piteously.
This causes Ootori to look up from his ledger. His brow lifts at the title he is slowly getting used to. Then he swings his eyes over the room's occupants with a slow appraisal of the twins' million watt smiles and Honey's dew-drenched eyes. "I have an idea."
Haruhi's face falls; her eyes begin to look for the exit. At her sides, the twins' smiles dim a little, while Honey's demeanor remains unchanged.
Tamaki breaks the silence. "What Kasan, what's your idea?"
Ootori's glasses gleam and he seems to darken the room before he says, "Ever hear of a department store?"
