Neji runs into Hinata as she's leaving through the front gate. "Don't go," he says.
Two years ago she would have listened to him, a year ago she would have considered. But now he's no longer special; they've reconciled, and so he doesn't matter quite as much anymore. So she just smiles oddly at him and leaves anyway.
It feels like betrayal, and he's not quite sure why; she's just going to say hello to Naruto, who's back after three years away. But it's nearly infidelity, which is odd because Hinata is only his cousin, and Neji can almost bring himself to hate Naruto again.
