Mokona hopped up into Fye's lap as the mage sat on the couch of the hotel suite Sakura had randomly won in the new world. The blonde's eye was closed and he wasn't smiling, something Mokona was sadly getting used to. The mage looked tired and only acknowledged the white creature with a grunt, something he would have expected from Kurogane, not Fye. Never Fye-mommy. Sighing, ears flopping down in depression, Mokona curled up around the blonde's flat stomach, feeling a bit better when Fye wrapped a pale arm around him.
Mokona, now becoming sleepy from the comfort of Fye's arm, vaguely remembered that the blonde came from a frigid climate and the climate of this world was a moist and hot one. The blonde sweats more than the rest of them and tended to stay inside since there was an AC in the suite. Mokona, knowing that Kurogane could converse with the people of the town since they knew his language and the kids could make out most of what the ninja said, made it clear that he was staying with the mage, not once leaving his side. While this was all cute and everything, Mokona was worried.
Since this was a suite, the hotel staff made sure there were rooms for all of them (Fye had to smile charmingly to have them let Mokona stay as they thought he was a pet rabbit). Because of this, Fye was able to distance himself from everyone (except Mokona, but Fye didn't seem to mind that much) and everyone was content to leave him be. They thought he needed his space, but Mokona knew better. Fye was a master of lies, just as Kurogane said. Fye wanted them to think that so it was easier for him to push them away and out of his life when this journey was done.
But Mokona didn't want Fye to do that. He didn't want Fye to forget him. Nor Sakura and Syaoran. But mostly not Kurogane. He dubbed them "mommy" and "daddy" for a reason, and that was they were meant for each other. "There is no such thing as coincidences." That's what Yuuko told them all, yet none saw it when Mokona did. Kurogane was a ninja, a protector, and a caring person. Fye was a mage, a lost soul, and an abused person. They were meant for each other.
Fye glanced down at the creature on his stomach before smiling sadly. "Ne, Mokona?" he asked softly, jarring the "rabbit" from its half-asleep state. "Can you keep a secret, even from the Witch?" Mokona paused, thinking about it. Yuuko would surly be upset, but she's understand. He nodded. "Good... Mokona... I think... I don't want to leave Kurogane's side..." Fye sighed as his one eye watered. "Not just because he's my feed."
Mokona hopped up to Fye's shoulder and hugged the blonde as best as possible with his stubby paws. "Mokona will not tell. But Mokona thinks Fye-mommy should tell Kuro-daddy." Fye blinked twice before gently hugging him back.
"I might..."
When Mokona fell asleep in Fye's arms, the mage smiled, a tear slipping from his eye. "Never tell him," he whispered softly, finishing his morbid thought.
Silence greeted him, but that was welcomed.
Tell me what you think.
