It was the final battle for the wizarding world. Robes billowed around Tonks and spells flashed clashed with Death Eaters, and voices yelled spells in a confusing jumble. Still forms in masks lay on the floor, and voices cried out in pain and triumph. Harry had gone to find Voldemort with Ron and Hermione by his side.
Tonks glimpsed Mad-Eye fighting three Death Eaters at once and doing quiet well. He always did like to over do things a bit. Make an impression.
Her view of Mad-Eye was cut off as two Death Eaters advanced upon her.
"Impedamenta!" She shouted, and they flew back. Tonks looked ahead of her and saw Remus keeping Fenrir Greyback off with spells. She rushed to help him.
Suddenly from behind there was a flash of green light. It hit Remus square between the shoulders. Time seemed to slow as he crumpled and fell.
"REMUS!" Tonks screamed.
Tonks sat bolt upright in bed, sweating and crying. From the way her throat felt, she had yelled aloud in her sleep. She looked to her right to where Remus slept. The spot was empty!
Suddenly, his reassuring voice came from the hallway with a worried note in it. "Tonks?! I heard you yell, I just finished a cup of tea and-" He appeared in the doorway and saw Tonks' tearstained face. "Tonks, dear, what's wrong? Why are you crying?" He rushed forward and put his arms around her.
"It was a nightmare," Tonks sobbed into Remus's shoulder. "Merlin, it was so real. You were fighting and the Avada Kadavra...I thought you wered-" She was cut short as Remus kissed her.
Breaking the kiss, he said "Shh. I'm here, and I won't ever leave you." and held her close. He then lay down with her in his arms.
Tonks fell asleep that night still being held tightly by Remus.
