A/N: Okay, so once upon a time, I decided to start this fic, then ran out of ideas and abandoned it. Fast-forward 7 years to when I remember this account. Imagine my surprise (Note: HORROR) when I saw what I wrote as a 13-year-old. So bad. So bad I can't even. This was my very 1st fanfic and I'd feel awful for 5ever (longer than forever) if it doesn't get finished. So it's about to get a major edit. Anyway, hope y'all enjoy this.

Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha. All rights to the Inuyasha franchise belong to Rumiko Takahashi. And probably some other people, but mostly just her.

.::Intuition::.

Less than an hour prior, Kagome's rag-tag band of friends had settled down for the night. Dinner had been had, ideas had been shared and now they all, with the exception of one Hanyou, settled into sleep. Inuyasha volunteered to take the first shift as guard, as was often the case. He loyally promised to keep the humans safe from anything that might be looking for a quick meal.

Kagome knew better. Something had been bothering her for the past week. She had no idea what it was, but her intuition told her that something was amiss regarding Inuyasha. Completely bundled up in her sleeping bag, she almost missed when Inuyasha jumped down from his perch of a nearby tree only twenty minutes later. She quickly shut her eyes and tried to calm her racing nerves, breathing deep and slow as Inuyasha paced a small circle around the campfire, checking to seethat the monk, demon-slayer, kitsune, and pseudo-miko were actually sleeping. Apparently satisfied, he started off into the woods. Kagome counted to ten and then slowly removed herself from her bedding, creeping in the direction she had seen her friend go.

Since the woods weren't especially thick, Kagome didn't have a hard time picking out the flash of his red haori in the dim light. She followed him, doing her best not to come to close, praying that the wind didn't change and reveal her scent. It was nerve-wrecking, but also almost too easy.

When Inuyasha reached a clearing, he stood there for a moment, then spoke. "You can stop following me and come out now."

Kagome sucked in her breath quickly and was just about to come from behind the tree, sheepish grin already in place, when she spotted Kikyou emerge from some bushes not far from where she was crouched herself.

"I thought that I might be able to mask my scent from you."

Inuyasha stared at her, his face a little longing and a little sad "I would know your scent anywhere, Kikyou. Why would you try to hide from me?"

Kikyou stepped closer to Inuyasha and pressed one pale hand against his chest. Inuyasha's arm immediately went around her, palm against her shoulder-blades. "It was a test, of sorts. I did not mean to upset you."

And then Inuyasha and Kikyou just stood there, gazes locked for a very long time. Kagome's legs were starting to cramp when Inuyasha finally moved, his arm dropping to the small of her back, the other coming up to grip her waist. Kikyou moved forward and tilted her face up. Inuyasha looked shocked for a moment before quickly responding in kind, pressing his lips against hers. Kikyou's arms moved around his neck, locking them together in the embrace.

Kagome was in shock as well. She turned away from the scene and pressed her back against the sharp bark of the tree trunk. She wondered exactly how long these secret meetings had been happening. Behind her, she heard the whisper of fabric being removed and more noises that she really didn't want to know more about. As the sudden realization of what was happening hit her, tears built up behind her eyes. Kagome bit her lip but was unable to stop one tear that made its escape.

She scolded herself for crying and also for being hurt in the first place. After all, Inuyasha had never promised her anything- and Kikyou was his one and first true love. Her arms shook as her hands balled into tight fists. She risked one more peek from behind the tree, knowing full well that she shouldn't, and saw a smear of pale skin and black and silver hair before she had turned around again, dashing away as silently and quickly as she could manage.

She made it back to camp with no problems besides suspiciously blurry vision. She let out a heavy sigh and fell down onto her sleeping bag. She curled up on her side and gazed into the fire's dancing flames. Her heart hurt as her mind replayed the scene. All she could think was, 'Knowing what I know now, what do I do?'

Swallowing the lump in her throat, she closed her eyes and tried not to think at all. Hopefully the morning would bring her the answers she desperately needed. She wasn't wake when Inuyasha returned and stood looking at her form for long minutes before jumping back into his tree.

A/N: Why do you think Kikyou tried to mask her scent?
