Disclaimer: I do not own Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, or any of the characters in it, although...I wouldn't mind having a little piece of Edward XD
Edward ran through the trees at his usual lightening speed. He ran toward Bella's house. He had to go and get his stuff that he gave to her and get as far away as he could before he ran back to Bella and begged for forgiveness for leaving her.
'It's all for her safety' he reminded himself. So he quietly snuck up into the window and quickly looked for the few items he had ever been allowed to give her. Once he got the gifts, he found the picture album and scanned through it, looking for any pictures that had anything to do with him. The first one he came to was one of him and Bella kissing toward the camera. Bella seemed to love taking pictures of him and her kissing. She said it was like a bit of "proof" for herself.
Edward's eyes widened and the picture album fell out of his hands. He kneeled down on the ground as realization finally hit him. He finally figured out that he would never get to kiss Bella again. He could never hug or comfort her. He couldn't cradle her in his arms as she silently fell asleep. He would never be able to do any of that with her ever again. He put his face in his hands.
'What have I done?' he thought. Edward felt something go down his cheek. He quickly touched it and was surprised to find salty water on his hands.
Flashback
Edward and Bella sat in the middle of a huge meadow. Well, not just any meadow. It was their meadow. Bella was sitting on Edward's lap and he had his arms wrapped around her waist. They were just sitting there just enjoying each other's company, until Bella finally broke the peaceful silence.
"Edward?" she said.
"What is it, love?"
"Can vampires cry?" Bella asked.
"Why do you ask?"
"I was just wondering that's all."
Edward sighed and said, "Well Carlisle has a theory. He thinks we can, but he's not sure. He once had a friend whose mate was slain and he thinks he might have cried."
"Thinks?" inquired Bella.
"Yes, it was raining and it was hard to tell if they were tears or just the rain. You already know that a dead body cannot create moisture, but vampires are obviously different. I myself have never cried, for the only reason I would ever cry is because of your absence."
Bella laughed and said, "Then you will never shed a tear."
End of Flashback
Edward crouched down and started to sob as he remembered the last words of the memory. It was true that he had never cried before. He had never been sad enough to. But now it seemed that this whole incident has finally struck a chord and has released the tears of a vampire.
