It was a new day. The sun was shining down on Locksley Village. The serfs were working in the fields, the mill was turning, and fresh laundry hung on the line. Children played in the yard and laughter filled the air. Robin gazed around his village and smiled. Over in the garden, his gaze landed on Marian. His beautiful Marian. She stood, bent over near the rose bushes, picking a fresh bouquet for the house. She was busy showing little Amelia how not to get poked by the thorns. As she straightened, it was easy to view the swell of her belly. When she noticed Robin watching, she returned his grin with one of her own. Facing up to the sky, Robin closed his eyes and thanked God for his good fortune.

When he opened his eyes, it was dark. The crackling of the fire was the only sound that he heard. He was in his camp. The gang was all sleeping nearby. The dream…. He had that dream again. If he wasn't dreaming about the horrors of the Holy Land, he was dreaming about the life he couldn't have. Then he looked to his right and smiled. There was Marian sleeping at his side. After Edward's death, she came to the forest with him. He smiled again as he lay down and curled up behind her. With her here, maybe he actually had a chance at that dream…..
