Title: The End
Summary: The way 'Chosen' should have gone.
A/N: I don't really have much to say about this story. It's a kind of a one-shot or a 'what if' type thing I hope you like it!
The building was collapsing around them. Everyone alive had gotten out except them. They were in the lowest level and Buffy had just realized that she loved him. There was no way she could let him go now. She looked at him; he was catching fire and in obvious pain yet, still standing doing this to redeem himself…for her. She came to a decision.
"Spike, I love you!"
There, she finely said it. He knew.
"No you don't, but thanks for saying it. Now you better run along. Don't know how much longer I can hold this off"
Or maybe not. She couldn't blame him for not believing her; she wouldn't have either after the way she had been acting.
"I mean it Spike. I love you!"
She would just have to convince him.
"Luv, please just get out of here. The building is literally falling down."
"Spike, I'm not leaving here until you believe I love you!"
"Okay, you love me. I believe you. Now go!"
He was close to begging now.
"Do you still love me?"
She had to know. She thought so, but she had to hear him say it.
"Buffy, you know I love you. I always will. It's not something I can stop and I wouldn't even if I could!"
The way he said it, with such conviction let her know she had made the right choice.
"Okay then"
She walked over and hugged him, placing a light kiss on his lips.
"What are you doing Buffy? Go! It's almost too late!"
"I'm not going anywhere Spike. I'm going to be with you forever! If forever ends now, then so be it!"
"Buffy, what about the others? They need you."
"Spike, every girl with the potential to be the slayer, is a slayer. I've done my job. Please just this once let me be the selfish one. I always sacrifice for the good of the world and the people around me. Please just let me spend the last of my time here with you. Please Spike, let me die happy! Third times a charm right?"
Spike was not happy about the situation, but he did love her and he knew there was no way to get her to go so, he decided to make the best of the situation. He faced the facts: They were going to die…together. He opened his arms despite the pain.
"Come here Luv; let's at least do this the right way."
She stepped back into his arms and he kissed her. He was in excruciating pain, but when he kissed her it all seemed less important, more dull somehow. The whole world faded away and time stopped. There were no vampires, no slayers, and no people depending on them. It was only them and this kiss. Unknown to them there was a bright white light surrounding them and them nothing. It was over, they were free and together. It was the perfect end to a complicated story. It took them till the end to finally get it right, but the point you shouldn't miss boys and girls is that they did get it right.
A/N: I know this is totally cheesy but…what can I say, I'm a hopeless romantic! It's a curse.
