It started out like any normal day, patrolling the borders. Just I knew this wasn't any ordinary day as soon as I looked at the twolegplace. Perched along a fence, looking into the forest, was a bright ginger kittypet, who's pelt sparked the image of a roaring fire with every glance shot at him
Thankfully I was alone, as it would be a shock to my warriors that I was staring at a kittypet, but they didn't know what this was all about. Nobody other than myself and Spottedleaf knew about the prophecy, and as soon as I saw him I knew that this was connected.
I looked on at him some more. He didn't see me, as I was watching through the bushes, but he had a curious glance set at the forest. I wondered if the sight of the forest seemed to be drawing him in, as my vision was drawing myself and the hopes of the clan in. He was very aware of the sense of the forest, pricking up when the wind rustled the trees, at the scurrying sound of a mouse, and I could swear at one point that he was going to jump in and explore the forest, however he didn't move, just calmly watched the forest from his perch on the fence.
My vision had brought me in even more, and now I thought StarClan was playing tricks on me. The perch where he was turned into mesmerizing, flickering, dancing flames, crackling and roaring, shooting off sparks. The next thing I saw was an image of our camp, and the fire made a ring surrounding it. The fire then slowly closed in on our camp, and when it hid the camp, surprisingly it didn't burn down, but it glowed with the power of the fire.
This series of images then blacked out, and I went back to seeing a flame-colored kittypet. He was still a kittypet, I thought, but he was also more than that. Walking back into camp, I remembered all I had seen, all StarClan had showed me. I remembered the prophecy, and suddenly I knew. I had to get that fiery kittypet to join our clan. Without him, ThunderClan had no hope. We would just go down, and let there be only three clans in the forest. I wondered what some of my warriors would think of having a warrior with kittypet origins in the clan, but if they knew all I knew, they would accept it.
Finally, the last pieces of the puzzle of that day slid together. According to the prophecy, fire alone would save our clan. And even though fire is dreaded by all the clans, I now knew what they meant by fire. For I had seen it myself, with my very own eyes and a little help from StarClan.
If fire alone can save our clan, I thought, then I have seen the fire.
