Get Out Alive
His body burned and screamed for it to be over, that's all he wanted, for it to be over. He groaned as he attempted to lift his head at the shrill screech of the thick iron door slowly opening; he was sure that it was time again for "them" to come back and he didn't know if he could take anymore of what they were giving him. His head flopped to the side resting against his filthy and mutilated arm that suspended him from the ceiling as his blurry vision focused on a shadow that he never dreamed of ever seeing again. The soft voice that reached his bloodied ears was a whisper but loud enough that he heard it.
"Relena, wh…what are you doing…here?" he questioned in a rough ill-used crack of a voice. His vision started to go in and out of focus as he watched her come closer into the dungeon cell that "they" had kept him in for so long.
"I'm here to get you out of here. Duo's watching the door while the others are distracting them. Come on, lets get you out of here," she stated as she looked around trying to figure out how she was going to get him down. She spotted the lever on the wall then followed the chain that held him up and went over to it.
"No…not that…" he attempted to stop her but his voice gave out just as she pulled it. The cell was instantly filled with his agonized screams and writhing as the stale air crackled with the electricity that flowed through the thick chains. Relena instantly pushed the lever up to shut it off and ran back to him. Tears flowing freely down her face as Duo ran into the room.
"What the hell?" he exclaimed, his gaze going wide at the sight of his misshapen brother contorted in pure agony.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't realize. Heero, look at me please," Relena begged as she framed his face in her shaking hands.
"It's alright…it made…l – logical sense to p – pull it. Th-that's why they set it up that way. You…you have to get out of here. That…that's the trap," he muttered as his eyes rolled around until he looked her in the eyes.
"I'm not leaving you here. We are going to get you out of here, Heero," she stated forcefully.
"You can't…you have to get out of …here. You have to stay away from politics…they…they will kill…you. You have to stay away from…me,"
"We came here to get you out. We're not going to leave without you," she continued as she glanced back to Duo.
"Do you see any way to get him down?"
He opened his mouth to say something but was cut off by the sound of booted feet running towards them. His eyes went wide as he ran to the open doorway and opened fire; he looked away only once towards his brother to see the silent message that he was giving him. There was no alternative, he ran back grabbing Relena's wrist.
"Duo, what…No, I'm not leaving him!" she cried as she struggled against him as he tried to pull her away.
"Relena, I'm…a dead…m-man anyway. Get out alive," Heero stated as he gazed into her tearful aquamarine eyes.
"Heero!" she screamed as Duo pulled her from the room returning fire at the enemy.
He closed his eyes as the constant fire filled his ears but his mind saw only her face in different emotions, ones that he was sure he would never see again.
