The Doctor was not one to easily let tears fall. He often took pride in the fact he rarely cried. He would boast often to himself about how well he kept his tears in. Then he would recall that keeping tears in and not crying are hardly the same thing. Crying was not always accompanied with the tell-tale tear stains. He figured, after lying to himself for so long, that the reason he kept his tears in, was because tears were reserved for those who truly deserved them. One tear, then two was all he could muster. One for his loss and another for her gain. The latter tear being one of the little things, knowing she would still have a wonderful life... even after him.
He figured after a while, no more tears were needed.
