Chapter 22: Metagross

Brendan makes his way through Mauville City. The city itself makes Brendan's heart ache but he noticed the building Wattson was resided in was longer standing. All that was left was a massive pile of rubble and the people in town were happier. This left Brendan with a creeping thought, where could Wattson have ran off to?

He walks onto a shore on the coast of Mauville city where he notices a man standing in front of the flowing river.

"You don't have a surfing pokemon too?" Brendan asked the silver haired stranger.

"Not at all, but I am waiting for a friend." The violet suited mystery man wearing silver cuff-links foreboded.

"Is this friend of yours gonna help us cross the river?"

"Possibly, or it promise something better." The man continued his cryptic speaking pattern.

"Umm, okay. How do you know someone is coming?"

"Because I have a gift, Brendan Ruby." He replied.

Brendan took a step back.

"How do you know my name?" Brendan asked defensively.

At that moment a tiny red and white jet zipped past the two, splashing water onto the shore. The blur quickly sped back to the both of them, floating next to the silver haired man.

"You helped a client of mine, in the Petalburg woods." The man admitted. "Now I want to repay the favor."

Brendan pulled out his pokedex.

Latias is highly sensitive to the emotions of people. If it senses any hostility, this Pokémon ruffles the feathers all over its body and cries shrilly to intimidate the foe. It communicates using telepathy. Its body is covered in down that refracts light to make it invisible.

"Who was that client of yours?"

"He goes by mister D, however, his real name is Devon Stone. He is my father and I'd like to repay the favor." Mr. Stone insisted.

Brendan waited a moment to think things over until he felt a strong surge attack his mind.

"Heaah," Brendan cried falling to his knees.

"Yes the telepathic voice of psychic pokemon can be rather unbearable the first time," Mr. Stone informed. "Accept her voice and it'll be easier.

Brendan acknowledged the advice; he stood up with his eyes closed listening to the pokemon.

"I'm not sure about you," Brendan confessed. "But I will go with the Latias."

"Thank you," Mr. Stone pulled out a pokeball and called forth a blue, metal giant that stood on four legs which were about the same height as Brendan. Brendan staggers as he records the pokemon's data.

Metagross has four brains in total. Combined, the four brains can breeze through difficult calculations faster than a supercomputer. This Pokémon can float in the air by tucking in its four legs. When hunting, this Pokémon pins the prey to the ground under its massive body, it then eats the helpless victim using the large mouth on its stomach.

"You can ride our little visitor Latias here," Mr. Stone offered. He crosses his right hand over his chest touching a special pin that was clipped onto his suit. The gem on the clipped glowed; a strong and powerful rainbow color was released. The Metagross begin to glow just as strong, causing the sand and water on the shore to splash and shift about. The light blinded Brendan for a moment, by the time he could see the Metagross again he witness a different creature floating in front of him. The blue iron monger had eight body sized arms with large sharp claws, and a golden cross sitting on its face.

"What the hell is that?!" Brendan exclaimed.

"A gift I want to leave with you," Stone promised. "Now if you would just jump onto Latias, please."

Brendan agreed, he climbs onto the miniature jet pokemon.

"Okay now tell me about that black magic you just used on your pokemon!" Brendan tries to interrogate young Mr. Stone but Latias takes off and Brendan holds on to Latias' neck for his dear life. Brendan could barely make out the blur of islands he was flying over. As soon as he had gotten use to Latias' speed and could see again, Latias landed on an island covered in trees. On the cliff of the island stood two men impatiently waiting.

"Steven Stone, it is about time you showed your face!" The dark skinned, blue bandana pirate exclaimed.

"What?" Brendan responds in confusion.

"You moron," The other man declared. "Steven Stone is a silver haired juvenile. This boy clearly has white hair."

"I'm sorry to mention this Maxie but I'm in my early twenties." Steven corrects the stern red headed man while floating above the union of island members.

"You team Delta trash!" the pirate yells. "Get down here!"

"You've spoiled the surprise Archie." Steven calmly replied while landing, "now Brendan knows exactly who we are."

"What are you talking about? Who are you three?" Brendan demanded getting impatient.

"Why, we're the three leaders of Team Aqua, Magma, and Delta Sky." Steven informed. "And I've called the three of you here to tip the scales in your favor."

"Tip the scales?" Maxie repeats.

"In our favor," Brendan reiterates.

"What is this trash you speak of?" Archie bellows. "And why shouldn't I drown you where you stand!"

"You see, Archie, Maxie, you wish to acquire the power of the legendary pokemon residing in Hoenn, however, you are too weak to achieve that power." Steven assures. "I have found a power that brings pokemon closer to the legends thanks to Team Delta's capture."

"I don't need your bloody power," Archie protests. "My men are raiding the weather institute as we speak, looking for the Blue Orb!"

"And you Maxie?" Steven provoked.

"You both know the Red Orb has been lost for the past 8 years."

"Actually your Red Orb is closer than you think." Steven pestered on.

"Spit it out Stone," Maxie mandated. "Where is the Red Orb?"

"It's standing right there before you." Steven confessed pointing at Brendan. Archie's pupils dilated, Maxie stood baffled, and Brendan stared at Steven's finger.

"No way, it can't be me."

To Be Continued.

This story started in 2008 and then I became too busy to finish it. I'll see this as an opportunity since ORAS came out and now I can add Mega Evolution to the story, hopefully without damaging all of the previous chapters.

Next time, May versus Wally?!
