"James!?"

"Hello ladies." Taking a seat between Brennan and Adelaide, James smiles to the waitress as she places her drink in front of Brennan.

"Ah, doll face?"

"Yes sir?" The little red head asked with a sly smile on her face, liking what she sees.

"I'll have bailey's on the rocks, thanks" And with a wink the girl walked away. All this time both Brennan and Adelaide were just looking at James. One in fear of seeing their death and another in question on why he is there.

Turning back to the table James smiles at them. One would say something close to Booth's charm smile but it would never light up a room. Brennan thought to herself, no matter how cheesy it sounded.

"Well, you must be Seeley's woman. Temperance Brennan." It wasn't a question but Brennan liked to have some control of a conversation and to show that she wasn't in fear of this man. Holding out her hand she stated her full name.

"Doctor Temperance Brennan, yes. That would be me, but I'm not Booth's woman he doesn't own me."

Taking her hand James shook it lightly. "Of course not, just someone he cares about a lot I'm sure."

"Here's your drink sir." Placing the drink in front of him the waitress made sure she leaned as far across the table as she could. Giving James a full view of her chest.

"Why thank you doll."

"What the hell are you doing here and how did you find me?" Everyone one at the table turned to the voice that finally spoke.

"Adelaide, you forget how easy it is to find you and in D.C no less. It was a piece of cake. Now to answer part one of your question since I jumped to part two before, we need to talk." Raising his glass up in a toast, James takes a sip from it while Brennan watches his every move.

"May I speak with you first James?"

"Whom am I to deny such a beautiful woman a chat with me? Adelaide won't be going anywhere for some time so I will say yes."

Just when Brennan was about to ask her first question Adelaide raised her hand to stop her and leaned slightly over the table towards James.

"Still think your god's gift to woman, James? You know you can't do anything to me. I did my job just as you did yours and I think-"

"Adelaide please, you'll have your time to speak but right now Temperance wants to ask me something. I'm sorry you were saying?"

Brennan keeping quiet for a moment longer took a sip of her drink, not liking it one bit she quickly puts it back down.

"Why did you betray Booth?"

B&B&B&B&B&B

Pulling up in front of the hotel, Booth checking himself over. Putting his hand over his hip and feeling his gun Booth did not know what was going to happen when he walked in there. Everything could go fine or he will have to call for back up. Booth knew the second he found out where Adelaide was so did James. Adding Bones in the mix wasn't helping him either.

'Okay Seal main objective is to go in abstract Bones no matter how much of a fight she puts up and pray to god that James or Adelaide doesn't see them. Let them fight their own war, I'm not part of it anymore.'

Just as he was walking into the lobby his cell went off. Looking around and making sure he doesn't see anything other than harmful people Booth pulls out his phone.

"Booth."

"Seeley!" He knew that tone, it meant he did something wrong.

"Rebecca, what's wrong?"

"Do you know what this weekend is? Because if you don't…I don't know what I'm going to do to you."

He didn't have time for this, for all he knew Adelaide spotted Bones and was waiting for the right time to strike.

"Well? Do you Seeley?"

"Yes, Rebecca I know what this weekend is. It's the weekend I take Parker. You think I would forget that?"

He had to move, he couldn't stand in the middle of the lobby and he didn't want to walk into the bar while still on the phone with Rebecca. God only knows what would happen if she heard Bones yell at him to stop pulling her and Rebecca yelling in his ear about whatever she was upset about now. So going over and standing by a wall was his safe bet.

"Do you know what else is this weekend Seeley?"

He could hear Parker in the background asking if he could speak with him. And that's when he knew what Rebecca was talking about.

" Parker's birthday. I told you I already have everything set up for that. So what are you yelling about now? You know I do remember a lot of things and there is no chance that I would forget my son's birthday."

"I know that Seeley, but this is going to be the first time I'm not going to be there and-"

Booth knew where this was going. Rebecca is famous for her tirade about her little boy. But when Booth tries to put up a fight it turns into how he is always wrong and she has control over Parker's life and bah, bah, bah. This was going to be a longer conversation than he thought, but looking at the bright side he could see the bar from where he was now standing. If anything happened he would be there in a second.

"Yes Rebecca I'm still here."

B&B&B&B&B&B

"Betray him? I wouldn't go so far as say betray him, maybe keep him out of the loop would be a better way of putting it."

"Well? Why did you do it? Was it more important than your friendship? Because what I have heard it was not. You made it that way."

Laughing James took a few more sips from his drink.

"I didn't plan that, I'm more of an 'Action Jackson' I just do what I had to. It was Adelaide who was the master of that piece of work."

Turning his head James looked Adelaide right in the face.

"Till this day I have never met an adversary like you."

"Same here…well one who wouldn't die." Adelaide said looking James right back with more hate for one person.

Laughing James turned back to Brennan.

"See what I mean?"

"No I don't and you still didn't answer my question. Why did you keep Booth out of the loop?"

"I was getting there. Adelaide before she came into the job she has today was working for me. A tact force that…huh I can't really tell you more than that. Anyway something got mix up and Seeley was in the middle and didn't even know it. But not to worry about that I took care of him earlier so there is really no need for-"

Sitting up in her chair Brennan caught what James just said about 'taking care of Booth' and was not liking how he was so ready to pass it by and continue with his story that Brennan found was BS and had not point to.

" Wait, what happened with Booth?"

"I'm sorry?"

Now it was Adelaide who was looking at the couple and taking sips from her drink. Watching every move they took.

"Booth," Brennan almost shouted, "What did you do with Booth?"

"He has no part in this anymore. I'm over and done with him, like I said he didn't know anything from the start."

Now Brennan was pissed off. Didn't he get what she was asking? When Brennan was upset she always let her 'bad' side take control of her actions. Reaching her arms up Brennan grabbed the front of James jacket and pulled him closer to her.

Adelaide simply raised one eyebrow, she didn't think she had it in her to do that to James. He was always a much forceful man than Booth.

"I said, What. Did. You. Do. To. Booth?" Talking through her teeth was a sure sign Brennan was about to go off.

"Well if you kindly take your hands off me I will tell you. Come on! Don't want to cause a scene here do we, Temperance?"

Taking her hands off of him but keeping them close, Brennan waited for James. Not caring that everyone in the bar was looking at them.

"Stop calling me Temperance. Now answer my question."

"Seeley is alive and well. I didn't do any body harm to him. Does that answer your question?" Not waiting for an answer James continued on, "Now if you please say your good byes now I would like to do what I came here to do, and that is talk with Adelaide."

Looking at said person Adelaide gave a smile to Brennan.

"Don't worry Brennan you warning was heard. Plus I don't think I will need Seeley's assistance with anything. Think of it as my warning to him." Waving her keycard to the waitress Adelaide tells her to put the drinks to her room.

"James I have a room here let's go and talk about our little problem."

"Fine with me. Nice meeting you Dr. Brennan. Booth is a lucky man."

"That he is. Thank you for whatever just happened here, I think."

"Okay Rebecca, fine. Listen I have to go, tell Parker that I will pick him up after school Friday. Bye." Hanging up Booth let out a long sigh. That was the only time he didn't like talking to his ex. Booth was about to walk pass the bar just to make sure that everything was okay in there he saw the three people he never wanted to see together.

Brennan was walking ahead of James and Adelaide with a confused look on her face while the other two looked a little to peaceful with each other.

Finally looking up Brennan saw Booth looking back at her.

"Booth!?" Looking back to the couple and then her boyfriend Brennan knew she was caught and didn't know if she could get out of this one.

Booth on the other hand thought the worst had happened, James was trying to take one thing that was important in his life. Hand on hip Booth was ready for anything.

"Seeley Booth, good to see you again man. Lovely lady you have there. Keep her close."

"James? Wha…what are you doing here?" Booth asked while trying to get Brennan to go behind him.

"You don't really see me. I'm dead." And James kept walking with Adelaide next to him who gave a sly smile to everyone they passed.

Watching them give him and Brennan a small wave as the doors to the elevator close on them Booth turns back to Brennan.

"Bones, what the hell was that all about?"

"Booth. I kind of lied to you about having a meeting with my publisher. It's more on the lines of having a meeting with the people who tried to hurt you."

"Yeah I can see that Bones. Why? What made you-"

"Booth stop. It's over I don't know what really happened but all I know is that we won't see them ever again. That's what's important right now. Let's just go home."

Taking a step back Booth shook his head.

"Bones I need some time to just think this over okay let's just go to our own homes tonight and think okay? Okay"

"Booth wait!" But he already walked out. Looking around the grand lobby Brennan took a deep breath and she to walked out.

It was how long of a wait? No! Lies I tell you! Okay don't worry. Hey don't try and kill me. We all know they are going to get back together and soon. Like next chapter soon. Adelaide and James think of what you want of them. They are over and done with. Who knows what they are doing in that hotel room? Killing each other? Maybe. Having great sex? Who knows? Who cares? All I care about is you guys and how fast the next chapter is going to be up. ~Minmi
