Chapter 4
They wandered though the city keeping to the darkened the main streets, Sasuke clinging to his brother's hand, afraid to let go. They had been walking for nearly half an hour and the sun had long since set. Sasuke shivered and moved closer to Itachi as the cool night wind ruffled his hair, sending a chill down his spine.
Sasuke glanced up at his brother who was staring straight ahead, his expression unreadable. Sasuke was tired and hungry, not having eaten since lunch as they had intended to eat after watching the movie. He wanted to ask Itachi where they were going, but was too scared to do so.
They eventually arrived at a large house just outside the main city. Loud music could be heard from inside and there were several cars parked in front of it. It was smaller than the Uchiha household, but still larger than average. They approached the front door and Itachi rang the door bell. Sasuke shifted so that he was peeking around from behind Itachi, scared and confused as to why Itachi had brought them here.
The door eventually opened after several long minutes too reveal a tall, shirtless, epicene blond male with piercing blue eyes who was holding a half empty beer bottle. He appeared surprised upon first seeing Itachi, but his expression slowly changed to one of lust as he let his eyes wonder over Itachi's figure. Sasuke was now fully hidden behind Itachi not at all liking the look of the blond drunk
"Wow Itachi this is a surprise." purred the blond man. "Finally accepted you want me, huh?"
"Shut up Deidara we just need a place to stay for a while." Itachi was practically growling at the blond. Sasuke wondered how his brother knew this Deidara person and what he could possibly want from him; Itachi had him didn't he?
"Don't lie to me Itachi-san; I could see it in your eyes from the moment I was told my parents were away on a month long business trip that you would –Wait a second we?" Deidara peered curiously around Itachi, who gently tugged a terrified Sasuke into view, placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
"What the hell, Itachi! Who the fuck is this kid?!" Deidara looked Sasuke up a down suspiciously, furiously glaring at the one who dared interrupt his chance to get Itachi into his bed. Sasuke squirmed nervously under the blond scrutinising glare. He didn't like this, not one bit; he wanted to go home back to his room and warm bed.
"This "kid" is my younger brother, and I'd appreciate it if you'd watch your tongue when speaking while he's around." Itachi's voice was deadly calm, once more clearly annoyed by Deidara's behaviour. Sasuke trembled slightly in fear, not wanting to witness another fight.
Deidara drew back, chuckling and nervously scratching the back of his neck.
"Sorry about that, Itachi, yeah. So, um, you wanna come in and tell me what's going on?"
Itachi nodded once before moving past Deidara into the entrance hall, Sasuke following, scared to be separated from his brother. They paused to remove their shoes before continuing on where Itachi lead the way into the kitchen.
Itachi sat at a medium sized round wooden dining table, and Sasuke scrambled onto the cushioned wooden dining chair next to him, glancing nervously around the room. The floor was a plain white tile, but the walls were cream. There were several dark wooden counters with granite work tops around the edge of the room, scattered with empty beer bottles and food packets.
The music from earlier could be heard clearly from down the corridor, now accompanied by the sound of several loud male voices.
Sasuke looked up at Itachi, who, upon realising Sasuke was looking at him, turned to offer him a small, reassuring smile, and ruffled his hair slightly before sliding his hand down to gently cup a warm cheek, tilting Sasuke's head slightly so he was looking him in the eye
"Don't worry Sasuke. It's okay I know these people; they are a little loud but we can rely on them until I can find us some somewhere better."
Sasuke nodded uncertainly, leaning forward as far as he could without falling off the chair to wrap his arms around Itachi's middle, nuzzling his face into Itachi's chest, before looking up gazing up at Itachi, his eyes shimmering slightly with terrified tears.
"I'm scared Aniki, I want to go home," he cried, a single tear making its way down a soft pink cheek.
Itachi sighed, pulling Sasuke into his lap so that he was facing him, holding onto his waist with one hand while he used the other to gently wipe the tears from his brother's eyes.
"Shh, Sasuke, don't cry; it's only for a little while – a month at most – then we'll be out of here "
"But I want to go home," Sasuke cried. Itachi was whispering, trying his best to calm Sasuke. He knew it wouldn't be that simple, but he had to say something. He gently rubbed calming circles into Sasuke's back as he spoke.
"We can't go home Sasuke. Not while he's still there. I can't risk his hurting you again." Itachi's voice was harsh; he needed Sasuke to understand that it was impossible for them to return to that place. He instantly regretted his decision when Sasuke's tears instantly stopped, a spark of fear reflected in his eyes.
He opened his mouth to apologise but was cut off by a cough from the direction of the door. He looked up to see Deidara and several more of his friends gather around the doorway. At some point during Sasuke's breakdown the music had been turned off.
He carefully moved Sasuke off his lap, and the others took that as the signal to enter. Sasuke gazed around curiously at the newcomers.
Deidara had sat down opposite Itachi and next to him on his right sat a redhead with golden eyes and perfectly pale skin; next to him sat a silver blond man with no shirt and many silver piercings in both ears; he also had curious purplish eyes.
On Deidara's left was another male all in black, with a mask covering his face; only his grey eyes could be seen. Finally, on Itachi's right sat a man with spiky blue hair, yellow eyes, and curious bluish skin.
"So," the blue haired man began, "what's up Itachi?"
Itachi took a deep breath to calm himself before speaking.
"I told you about my...relationship with Sasuke, correct?" Sasuke's head jerked towards Itachi, a look of annoyance spread across his young features.
"Yeah, you're screwing his brains out right?" Hidan jeered, laughing. Itachi sent him a sharp look instantly silencing him.
"We've yet to go that far, but yes, we are in a…physical relationship." A slight blush spread across Itachi's cheeks, as Sasuke's face flushed with anger.
"Aniki~," Sasuke whined. "I thought you said this was a secret; that we weren't to tell anyone!" An apologetic look crossed Itachi's face.
"Sorry, Otôto. Forgive me, I had no choice." Sasuke glared at him, annoyed. It had been so hard for him not to give in and tell his best friend Naruto and his other friends at school their secret, and yet Itachi had broken the promise he had made and told his friends.
Deidara suddenly burst into laughter.
"Heh, don't be too hard on him Sasuke-chan; we didn't really give him much choice." Sasuke's glare softened slightly as he turned to look at Deidara. The masked man next to Deidara looked him up and down.
"Personally, I don't blame Itachi; seeing the kid I think I'd have done the same thing myself." Sasuke blushed furiously at that and Itachi tensed, his teeth and fists clenching as the others around the table laughed and agreed with the other, temporarily forgetting why Sasuke was even there. Itachi took a deep breath and closed his eyes. Sasuke watched him as he counted silently backwards from 10, trying to ignore the way Itachi's friends were commenting on his ass.
"Anyway," Itachi interrupted the conversation that was quickly becoming lewd. The others went quiet at the threat in his voice.
"Ahh, sorry Itachi-san," apologised the red head who had been the quietest of the 5. "Please continue."
Itachi nodded his thanks before launching into his story. The others listened attentively, and Sasuke did his best to ignore the pitying and sympathetic looks the groups were giving him. Instead, he focused his attention on a loose thread on his jumper.
When Itachi had finished speaking, he leaned back in his chair and looked over the 5 members of the group, who all seemed to be in deep thought. Deidara was the first to break the silence.
"There's a free room next to mine; Kisame and Sasori are in the other two for the week, but if you and Sasuke don't want to share, I can always set up camp in the living room." Deidara's voice was serious and he looked Itachi directly in the eye as he spoke.
"Thank you, but I believe that Sasuke will be happy to share a bed with me for a while." Itachi turned to look at Sasuke, an eyebrow raised in question.
Sasuke nodded a little too eagerly in response, and even Itachi couldn't help but chuckle slightly at his cuteness.
"Thank you very much, Deidara-san." Deidara grinned happily at this and Sasuke offered a small smile in return. He was starting to like the blond; he reminded him a little of Naruto.
"Hey, if you make us a list, Kakuzu and I can go to your house tomorrow to get some of your things," Hidan offered, fidgeting in his seat, anxious to do something. Itachi nodded his thanks and a heated discussion begun as they attempted to decide what could be done to help the two Uchiha. The debate was cut short, however, by a loud grumbling noise coming from the direction of Sasuke's stomach.
"Hungry?" asked Kisame. Sasuke nodded shyly rubbing his stomach with one hand.
"Okay then, let's eat."
