Though Tom was smart,

His younger brother always managed to outsmart him somehow.

Sure Tom was older and had more life experience,

but his younger brother had the opportunity to watch his actions first.

He quickly became a spectator of Tom's life.

And when they were both very young, he wanted to follow Tom where ever he went,

to school

to the mall

to the basketball court

hanging out with his friends

his younger brother wanted to go where Tom went and do what ever he did

sometimes much to Tom's frustration.

Understandably, Tom wanted some time to himself sometimes.

And sometimes he was annoyed by his little brother,

but if anyone ever put him down,

Tom was the first to defend him,

and even fight if that much was necessary,

just like any good brother would.

Tom was never perfect, but he always tried to be a good brother,

a role model of sorts.

But regardless, the younger brother was always smarter.

He would watch his older brother try.

He would watch his older brother succeed.

He would watch him fail.

He could learn from his brother's mistakes.

From the way he acted and handled situations.

And he did.

So, naturally, he was smarter.

He was younger.

He was smarter.

But he was never smug about it.

For he was smart enough to know the reason why he was smarter.

So in return, naturally, Tom never resented him for it.

As the boys grew older, the younger brother made his own friends

and had his own share of adventures

and so he didn't follow Tom around everywhere... all the time.

And Tom started to make friends that his brother did not insist on hanging out with.

And so Tom and his younger brother spent more time apart,

but they always cared for each other

and if anyone ever put Tom down,

the younger brother was the first one to defend him,

and even fight if that much was necessary,

just like any good brother would.

And even though the little brother would never admit it,

he always looked up to Tom.

He loved Tom.

And Tom had always loved him.

And because he loved him, he wanted his little brother to learn,

and become wise from watching his big brother...

even if that meant being outsmarted sometimes.

That way, he could avoid his brother's misfortunes.

After all, he had always wanted a better life for his brother.

After all, he had always wanted a better life for his brother.
