A/N: Here it is, my first non-angst fiction *gasp* (which is odd, because I can't stand reading them). Anyway, this is a Trinity Blood OC story. It will likely evolve into a Tres/OC, but that will take a while, as I do not believe in rushing relationships, particularly when one of them denies an ability to feel emotions. (That has a tendency to put a damper on things, usually.) She does not actually appear in this chapter, but will show up in the next one.
Disclaimer: I do not own Trinity Blood. If I did, they would not have changed Tres' character design in the anime. Also, I'm too lazy to draw and publish a manga, and have a distinct lack of drawing skill.
Prologue
"…and we would like to thank the Vatican and yourself once again for lending us your aid."
Cardinal Caterina smiled at the young man seated across from her, setting her tea back down onto the desk.
"Nonsense, Father O'Hara, it is always a pleasure to help, and St. Mark's has always been a dear friend of ours," she replied. The novice priest brightly returned the smile, before his face suddenly dimmed.
"I apologize that Father Morello was unable to come himself. With his condition after the accident…" he trailed off, averting his gaze slightly from hers. Caterina nodded, teacup pausing on its way down from her lips.
"I understand. Avoiding strenuous movement is best at the moment, and I would not wish for him to risk further harm by traveling here." Father O'Hara gave her a grateful smile, and they sat in silence for a few minutes, enjoying their tea, before the doors to the Cardinal's office suddenly burst open and a fuming Professor Wordsworth stepped inside.
"That is it! I cannot take it anymore!" he exclaimed. Caterina's eyes widened, startled, and O'Hara turned around in alarm.
"I've had it with the people around here! Do you know how many times I've had people come up to me today, asking me to fix something or other? There's only so much I can do at once, and these people seem to think I'm a goddamn handyman! I demand you get someone else in here to help me, or I'm going to go insane!"
"William, that is enough!" Caterina said, standing up from her chair, eyes flashing, "I am willing to address your concern, but I will not tolerate you barging into my office while I am in a meeting!" Father O'Hara sat and listened, the growing smirk on his face going unnoticed by the other two as they continued to exchange heated looks. Calmly, he stood up between the two and smiled.
"If you wish, I believe I may be able to offer a solution to your problem."
Miles away, in a small workshop in Ireland, a young girl suddenly sneezed.
End note: As you've probably figured out, the character is human, and is not going to be a special, awesome, crazy-powerful, military-trained assassin. Also, there will be no Esther-bashing except when canon characters actually do yell at her, as I am trying to stick to the actual plot as much as possible. Bear with me, I intend to do my best and stick to the original storyline, though I may take liberties when time skips occur.
Rate, review, tell me what you think; all that good stuff, you know the drill!
