Wow. I wrote this story nearly two years ago as a project for school. Re-reading over it now, I realize how much I sucked at writing back then...so, I am re-writing this. Just as a note, I'm really bad at updating, so I don't know when the next chapter will be posted.

Prologue

A large silver wolf bounded through the forest, its long silver fur seeming to glow in the moonbeams that slipped through the few gaps in between the trees of the thickly wooded area. Though the ground was soft the wolf's heavy paws made no impression in the earth. But the wolf was not thinking about that, only one thought kept running through her head: 'Will I make it in time?'

As the moon moved lazily across the night sky, the wolf's pace quickened again. She had a single crimson streak, about a half-inch wide, that ran from the tip of her nose to the end of her bushy tail. It started to glow as the moon reached its zenith. At last, the wolf reached her destination; a clearing in the very heart of the forest. She leapt onto what appeared to be a perfectly round stepping stone that somebody has planted in the ground. It was really a perfectly round deep blue opal with light aqua streaks. The wolf fit on it perfectly, with only a little space left of the edges. Sitting with her tail curled neatly around her front paws, she gazed north and closed her piercing midnight black eyes as she howled, the grief-stricken sound shattering the peaceful night air. The wolf glowed an eerie deep blue, the same color as the opal, as the edges of said opal began to glow, golden, crimson, then finally, silver. The edges emitted a bean of light that surrounded the wolf and as the howl came to an end, the light vanished as suddenly as it had appeared, and in the wolf's place, was a human girl.

Though the girl was only seventeen, her hair was silver. Not as her grandmother's had been in her last years of life, but silver like the moonbeams that gently caressed her skin. No, it was not pure silver as the moonlight was. It was tainted moonlight, for a single crimson streak, about a half-inch wide, ran from the roots to the tips of a small section of her hair. Her eyes slowly opened, piercing midnight black eyes, just as the wolf's had been. She stepped carefully off of the opal and walked towards the edge of the forest. She stared at the clearing before turning around slightly, "Until the next full moon" she whispered, a trace of sadness in her voice. As she turned around and disappeared into the shadows the forest whispered back a quiet response, "Until then, Miyako. I know that you will return. After all, you must, for you have been destined to carry midnight's curse... just as you have been destined to break it."

Wow, I still suck at writing o_o, didn't expect the Prologue to be that horrible. Anyhoo, review please. I'm feeling really cruddy right now. Because I'm arriving home 10 days after I originally thought I would.
