This is a short story I thought of and it's not really that good. I was tired one day and I was thinking about the saying, The grass is greener on the other side. And well this is what I thought it meant. I hope you like it and please review and tell me how I did on it. ^_^
Best Friend
The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. I've known that since I was young. My grass is always dry and dead. It's worn out and no longer has life like the others. My life has been this way for as long as I can remember. Everyone looks down upon me with pity. I don't need it, I'm strong and stable.
I sighed softly under my tree. The goshinboku tree was my only companion. The tree listened to my problems and never criticized me for who I was. Whenever I got home from school I'd cry to my tree and tell him how bad everyone treated me. How people would laugh at me and how they'd pick on me. Even now at the age of fifteen I'd cry softly and still tell all my problems to my tree.
Then one day, as I got home from school, I saw a boy at my house. I froze at the sight before me, he was young, about my age but he had white long hair and eyes as gold as, well...gold. The only thing though that caught my attention were the ears that were atop his head.
He was sitting below my tree, where I usually sat. I was so confused, what was this guy doing here? Didn't he know where he was? How come he had doggy ears? Why was he sitting under MY TREE? I huffed silently, I had enough problems as it was. Now I had some guy terrorizing my only getaway place.
I only sighed though and continued my walk over to my tree. When I stopped in front of him I was shocked when he didn't move. "Uh...hi?" I asked uncertainly, my voice shaking a little.
I was surprised when he spoke to me. "Hello there. I'm Inuyasha." I looked up then and was able to catch the smile he gave me. He lifted his hand to shake mine and I saw that his nails were sharp at the tips. I gulped, afraid I'd get hurt if I did anything wrong.
When I didn't shake his hand he let it fall back down. "So I've been listening to you." My eyebrows bunched together in confusion. What the hell is that supposed to mean? I thought still standing there watching him like a hawk. "You know...when you talk to the tree. I listen to what you say." He smiled at me only it wasn't a "Oh you poor thing I feel sorry for you" kind of smile I was used to. It was a "I understand you" kind of smile. Despite myself I smiled too, happy to have someone, anyone, to talk to.
I was still confused by his explanation to being here but I didn't care as long as I had someone who understood me. To understand my pain and help me out. I took a seat beside him keeping my smile (and not having to fake it) in place, "I'm Kagome. It's nice to meet you Inuyasha."
That's how I learned that just because the grass is greener on the other side of the fence doesn't mean they have everything. It only means they have nice things in life and that they have people who aren't really friends but want their money. They have things other people want in life but what they can never have is a friend that listens to you like I do. My grass may not be the best in the world but I do know I have the best friend ever in this world.
So...? Did you like it? If not tell me. If you did like it PLEASE tell me. *grins for all who review*
