Disclaimer: I do not own Frankie; I just control his thoughts.
He's Too Special
Frankie was about to put his hand on the doorknob when it suddenly grew an invisible force field. The golden number '325' mocked him again and again. I don't think I should go... Frankie's thoughts distracted him as he sauntered in a zombielike fashion back to his dark hotel room and fell ass-first onto the bed.
They didn't want me there.
Then why did they invite you?
Frankie knew Nicky looked at him like he was to special or something. Frankie, you can't actually be getting self-conscious.
Fuck it, he thought, after completely losing track of time, I'm going to the party. Bob, Nicky and Tommy were his best friends and he hadn't seen them in years. I'm not going to ruin everything just because Nicky gave me a look that makes me feel what... guilty? What did I ever do to him?
Frankie sat up. He rested his elbows on his knees, letting his forearms fall between his thighs and sighed. Okay, I can do this. He threw his head back before getting up off the bed and approached his hotel room door.
The walk to Nicky's room seemed to take hours, but once he reached his destination, it felt as though he'd gotten there too soon for his liking. Just as he reached for the doorknob, it begun to rotate by itself and the door swung open.
"Oh, hey Frankie!"
It was obvious he had been drinking. "You finally came to the party!"
"Yeah... Actually, I think I'm going to stay out here for a bit."
"But why? Everyone's inside!"
"Yeah Bob, I just don't feel right going in just yet."
Bob furrowed his brow and shrugged. "Okay, well I'm going back to our room for the night."
People are starting to leave? "What time is it?"
Bob shook his left arm and checked the face of his watch. "Uh, three."
"Oh, alright. Thanks Bob. I'll head back soon. Just... just give me a few minutes."
Without another word, Bob stumbled off down the hall, slipped his card into the reader and pushed his way into their room. Once again, the corridor fell silent. What the hell am I going to do...? Frankie pushed his back against the wall parallel to room 325 and slid down until he hit the floor and hugged his knees to his chest. Why can't I just go in, have a drink and leave? What is so hard about that?
They just invited you to be nice. Nick doesn't want you there.
Yeah, but Tommy does.
That's right; he does, doesn't he? He actually wants to catch up. Alright, I'll go in for a few minutes, spend some time with Tommy, and leave.
Just as Frankie forced himself to get to his feet again, the force field reformed around the doorknob and his heart begun beating out of time. Frankie's arms dropped to his sides; he shook his head and made his way back to his own room. Forget it... I'll see them in the morning.
