The Simple Things
a/n: This is my first story ever so please tell me what you think. I don't know if I will write any more stories but I would love to know what you think of this one and who knows maybe you'll see some more in the future.
Sam was in bed when Jack got home. He always worked later than he should. She usually only got to see him in the mornings or real late at night.
Sam was on her side of the bed, which was fartherest away from the door because Jack insisted that he had to be closest to the door in order to protect her, just in case anyone ever tried to break in.
She heard the front door open and close and she could hear Jack making his way through the house to the bedroom.
Jack carefully and quietly opened the bedroom door so as not to wake Sam.
He took his shoes off, put his jacket in the chair, and put his loads of paperwork on the floor and made his way over to the bed where his beautiful wife was laying.
He had planned on just watching her sleep for awhile but she was already awake and smiling at him so he leaned down and gently kissed her on the lips.
"So how was your day?" she asked. That was the question she asked him everyday. It always helped him get things off his chest if he needed to, and it let her in on some of the more secret goings on at the SGC. Who better to ask about what's happening at the SGC than the man in charge himself, General Jack O'Neill.
"Oh you know, signing treaties, fighting bad guys, and approving the lunch menu. Nothing out of the ordinary for Stargate Command."
"Sounds fun" she smiled.
"Tons," he paused and took a breath, "and how was your day?" he asked.
"Same as usual. Exploring new technologies, fixing Siler's mistakes, and playing with my doohickies. Just another days work."
He smiled and said "Thankyou."
"For what?" she asked.
"For not being anyone but yourself and always making my day end with a smile."
"Your welcome." This time Sam kissed him.
"I really enjoy these kinds of nights, you know." Jack said.
"What kinds of nights?" Sam asked not sure what he ment.
"It's nice to just sit here and talk with you about something other than the test results of the latest naquadah bomb, or without the fate of the galaxy hanging in the balence." he said.
"I agree. This is my favorite part of the day. When I can come home and talk with you as my husband and not as my boss." she said, with a big smile on her face.
They shared another loving kiss.
"I'm gonna go change, OK." Jack said.
"OK. Goodnight Jack, I love you."
"I love you to Sam. More than you'll ever know."
The End
