A/N: I hate the second season of Rush, the way they had Josh dealing with Grace's death was great for the first few eps, but then he suddenly forgot all about her, and moved on with Shannon. She really annoys me! You can disagree with me, I am only stating an opinion.

I got bored, and went through all my old writing, found this. Yeah, it's probably been done a million and one times, but please give it a chance... though I'm not sure about the end of it. But whatever. Comment and critisism are appreciated! Enjoy!

"How was your first day?" Lawson asked as he caught up with Shannon after she left the change room.

Shannon gave him a small, soft smile. "It wasn't what I expected."

"It's hard to start with tactical response and expect your day to be the same as when you're a uniform," Lawson said but she cut him off.

"It's not that… I was in a car with Sergeant Joshua and with Stella…" she trailed off, pausing to really look at Lawson. "You want to tell me why I'm getting crap from Josh?"

"He was… really close to Grace, the women that you're replacing," Lawson said slowly.

"How close?" Shannon asked curiously.

"We were in love," Josh revealed, both Lawson and Shannon turning around to face him. Apparently he had been there for a while… and had heard ever word of the conversation.

"Is that what -?"

"We said, right before she collapsed, in my arms?" Josh questioned. "Yeah… we finally, confessed our love for one another, and then she dies… Ironic isn't it?"

"Don't. Lawson. Just don't."

With that, Josh walked off down the corridor, and away from everyone and everything he knew. When he got outside, the anger got the better of him, and he punched the wall, tears streaming down his face. He had loved Grace, so much, finally having the guts to tell her, and then, she was taken away from him. How cruel was that.

Josh knew he couldn't work like this, not with someone like Shannon replacing Grace. It was the fact she didn't know about Grace and what had happened. It was also the fact she was so nice to him, and tired to get to know him, that made him want to hate her…

He wanted to hate her, but he couldn't. He couldn't hate someone for something they had no control over.

Josh needed to get away form the station, so, without thinking about where he was headed, he walked away from the station and away form everything he knew.

He had no idea where he was going, he just let his feet walk him, where ever they felt like taking him. It was only once he got there, however, when he realised where he was.

"Hey Gracie," he said, slowly, staring down at her grave. "We had a new member join the team today, to replace you. I want to hate her, but I can't… she didn't know what happened to you…"
