Authors note: well I'm not usually the type to write angst fics, but would you look here, an angst fic. Yes, I do surprise myself sometimes. Anyway, I got the inspiration to write this fic after listening to Rose of Sharyn by Killswitch Engage. This is my first fic (well technically my second, but I deleted my first one as it sucked…) so please be nice! I own nothing, Rose of Sharyn and FMA sadly, don't belong to me. Enjoy!

The beeping of the monitor, so loud and deafening…the shout of doctors as he is pushed out the room and the blinds are pulled down. Riza… he could see her now…body jerking up as they desperately try to revive her.

*Numb and broken,
Here I stand alone,
Wondering what were
The last words I said to you*

It replays in his mind…the screech of tires, hands gripping the wheel as the car swerves out of control, the jerk of her head at the sudden impact, her body lying lifeless against the steering wheel…

He tries to keep composed, to hold back his tears as he stands up and slowly steps through the door to see her. She looks calm, so calm, her lips slightly parted into a half smile and her beautiful, golden hair fanned out across the pillow. He bends down next to her bed and takes her hand in his

*It won't be long, we'll meet again
Your memory is never passing
It won't be long, we'll meet again
My love for you is everlasting.*

Everything to him is lost. The pain is unbearable…the pain of not having her by his side…her smile...everything. The wind whips around him as he stands by her grave, flowers in hand. He lays them down, turns away and his face is shadowed by his hat once more.

*I mourn for those who never knew you
I mourn for those who never knew you
It won't be long, we'll meet again…*

He knows, that someday, they will meet again.
