Little something that came to me while listening to 'Valentino' (which I don't own) and I thought I'd post it. It's not very good but ah well.
Disclaimer: I DO NOT OWN ANYTHING. There I said it.
Sometimes Sonny would be reminded of Chad even three years on.
Someone would say "Fine," in a certain way or she would notice something in that particular shade of ocean blue.
And she would always think "what if?"
What if he hadn't got sick?
What if he hadn't decided that acting and fame just wasn't for him anymore?
What if Sonny had told him how she felt, before he left for good?
Of course there were always the days when she considered other what ifs too.
What if he hadn't got better?
What if he had died?
Would she be standing here on this stage, on Broadway in front of hundreds of fans or would she be somewhere else entirely, afraid to live out her dream because Chad hadn't got to live out his?
She could still remember his eyes, and she got lost in them, on his last day, in the airport, as even the Randoms! turned up to say goodbye.
He had hugged everyone and said his cocky lines, "I may be giving it up, but I'm still the best actor of our generation," and, "Efron still sucks."
Sonny had thought maybe losing his hair during chemo would give Chad the humbling he needed.
No such luck.
But just before he left he had hugged Sonny extra tight and whispered softly in her ear, "you're going to be a star Sonny, and I'm going to always be your biggest fan."
She'd started the usual banter of fine, fine, good, good before he left, and she hadn't heard from him since.
He'd cut off all ties with Hollywood and fame.
But always Sonny wished that he'd turn up at one of her filmings or shows, and smile that smile of his, and tell her he'd told her so.
But he never did and Sonny was 21 now and she was huge.
It was her face on the billboards and her name in lights.
But she went home to her empty apartment, and she sat with her dog, who always made her think of Chad's puppy shoving ways.
She'd tried to date sure, but in her heart she knew it would take someone really special to help her get over Chad.
They'd never really had closure on their little love/hate relationship and she'd never really let go of what might have been.
And sometimes Sonny wondered would anyone be able to make her forget.
She still hung out with Tawni on occasion, who was surprisingly engaged to a certain Disney star.
Sonny often told Tawni that Chad would be mad at her but she just rolled her eyes.
"Not if you kissed him he wouldn't, he'd forget all about it," Tawni would joke, laughing, thinking that to Sonny Chad was just some childhood crush.
And maybe to him that's all she was.
But to Sonny he was so much more.
She heard rumours now and then.
Did you here Cooper apparently has six children with four different women?
Did you hear CDC is coming back to town (never happened for real)?
Did you hear that Chad moved to Wisconsin?
That one always made Sonny smile.
But Sonny knew in her heart of hearts that Chad wasn't coming back to show business, not now, not ever.
So Sonny went about her life, shipping herself across America, from L.A to New York to Dallas to Orlando to Cleveland.
Anywhere and everywhere she could visit was visited, and she was doing was she loved most.
She was the star Chad said she would be.
So how come she felt like she was missing out on so much?
Sooooo that sucked... will it be a multi chapter..? I don't know. I guess if I get a couple of good reviews I'll continue but otherwise take it as you will.
