Every time Chad was beginning to find himself-his true self,
Every time he was finally starting to be happy,
The ignorant, egotistical Chad Dylan Cooper would manage to break through,
The one with the "I don't care" attitude,
The same Chad Dylan Cooper that caused Sonny Munroe to leave.
He remembered it like it was yesterday,
The screaming, the crying, the cursing,
The day he let the love of his life get away.
Sure, he could have gone after her,
Like at the 5 year Condor Studio reunion,
The 10 year,
The 15 year.
But no,
Because if the "bad-boy" fell for the "good-girl" the "bad-boy" wouldn't have such a "bad" reputation anymore.
And the ignorant, egotistical Chad Dylan Cooper,
The one with the "I don't care attitude",
He just couldn't let that happen, could he?
He couldn't let Chad, just plain Chad, be happy
Because it wasn't Chad that was successful in Hollywood,
It was Chad Dylan Cooper.
Chad Dylan Cooper knew how to keep the fans happy,
The tabloids,
The producers,
The agents,
The directors,
But not Sonny.
Only Chad, just plain Chad, could keep Sonny happy.
But keeping just one person happy, even if that person was Sonny Munroe,
Just didn't compare with keeping millions of other people happy,
Even if they were people Chad didn't especially care about.
The ignorant, egotistical Chad Dylan Cooper,
The one with the "I don't care attitude",
Managed to convince Chad that the fans,
The tabloids,
The producers,
The agents,
And the directors
Were more important than her,
Even if she was the only one that could make Chad happy.
Because Chad Dylan Cooper was cruel and heartless,
Created this way because of the fans,
The tabloids,
The producers,
The agents,
And the directors.
He had learned, the hard way, that if he kept them happy, he might be able to be himself, as long as he remembered that their happiness came first.
But he learned this too late,
He had already become the ignorant, egotistical Chad Dylan Cooper,
The one with the "I don't care" attitude,
The same Chad that caused Sonny Munroe, his last link to his true self, to leave.
