Greetings, Raydark here, If you saw my update, which I'm sure everyone following did, you can see I have decided to touch up my fanfiction. I know some have been wondering if it will ever update and I did post that I wouldn't, but I decided to at least give it a bit of a touch-up since I have been doing re-edits these past couple of months. There's no official guarantee that I will continue the series since I am still currently working on another one with my friend, Leengard. In any case, I just wanted to see how much better I can make this since this was my first story ever and I'll be changing the title, so hope its better.
Without further adieu, enjoy the first chapter.
Bleach: American Reaper
Prologue
Meet The America Soul-Reaper
Tokyo Airport
Many humans often found the airport to be a source of the most frustration anyone could ever possibly endure; If it wasn't the booming speakers announcing when one's flight was ready to be boarded, the large and irritated crowds of people talking at once could hamper anyone's good mood.
Unfortunately, one individual fell victim to the horrid reality of international airlines, finding himself sitting down in frustration after leaving his plane.
Adam Martinez, a sixteen year-old Caucasian male with semi-fair skin, lightly caramelized by the California sun. His hair was a deep brown, though shorter than most and slightly spiky, almost like his hair was quills of a porcupine.
His current attire was a bit different, having a more loose feel to it as his black shirt was a size too large, hanging off him like someone in a rap music video. His dark blue jeans were a bit loose, though not completely past his lower half, held together with a belt so it wouldn't expose his ass. The final piece to complete his outfit was a pair of mixed color pairs of sneakers, black lines with white patches that covered his feet.
He wasn't intentionally dressing like a thug, it was just his only pair of clothes since leaving his home. His luggage, which included his dog Rottweiler Ajax, just had nothing but dirty clothes and whatever personal affects he could take with him. The clothes he wore was a gift from his neighbors, who were in their rap phase.
Two weeks ago, he had woken up to a disturbing noise, hearing some kind of demonic roar that echoed in his house. Soon after it stopped, Adam rushed to where his parents were sleeping, wanting to check on them to see if they were ok. Upon his arrival, he found both of them deceased and torn apart like a high school frog dissection. The rest of that night was a blur, all he could remember was police sirens, him being drilled by officers about what he heard, and proving his innocence.
Fortunately, he didn't have to end up in a foster home as his neighbors volunteered to watch over him, plus help him through the process.
The funeral happened the week after, where he was invited by his uncle to stay with him and his aunt for the remainder of his high school. His last week in California was also a blur as he had to endure having to get through all his stuff and selling the house he lived in.
Once it was all settled, he bid his old life adieu and took the first flight to Japan.
Which led him to his current situation, sitting in an airport with his dog, Ajax, who seemed more relaxed than he was. Adam couldn't help but give a soft chuckle as he heard him snore softly.
"Glad one of us can enjoy themselves," Adam whispered to himself.
After ten minutes, a security guard walked up to him as the teen raised an eyebrow in confusion, seeing him look at a piece of paper in his hand. After a few seconds, he turned over what he had in his hand, allowing Adam to see it was an old picture of him.
"Y-yes, that's me…"
The guard simply motioned him to stand up, which Adam did without hesitation and began following him with his luggage in tow. Eventually, the two made it towards the front entrance.
Outside, it was a bit cloudy with rain drizzling down, leaving nothing but damp roads and people.
Though Adam's attention wasn't on the rain, it was on the single individual with a raincoat and a damp sign that spelled out "Adam".
Ray Martinez, the Uncle to Adam on his Father's side, who he had met a couple of times growing up. He was one of the only family members that the boy knew. There were often questions why he didn't know any other family members, but his folks always repeated the same answer of them being estranged.
He could see outside that his uncle was currently in a business man suit, dark blue with matching pants and black shoes while wearing a white undershirt, and red tie. Like Adam, Ray's hair was black though slicked back, meaning it was a bit longer than his nephew's, and had fair skin that complimented his brown eyes.
"Do you really need to make such a scene?" he remarked with a chuckle.
"Come on," his uncle replied with his signature grin. "How else would you find me in the airport? Besides, I put a lot of work into it."
"Right, just like the "surprise" you gave last Thanksgiving."
"Let's not bring up the past…"
All that did for Adam was chuckle as he went towards his uncle's car to put his luggage inside. Fortunately, he wasn't alone as Ray went to help him with the heavy bags. Once all of them were stored in the back, and Ajax in his cage behind the two front seats, the uncle and nephew got in as they began driving.
The drive was quiet, except for the sounds of the radio playing and the soft rain drops hitting the car.
Ray gave a glance to his nephew, seeing the young man having an exhausted look on his face. He knew it all too well, it was the same one he had after his long hours of work, only to come home so late at night.
"Everything alright?" he asked with a worrisome tone.
"Yeah… just tired, the flight really hit me harder than I thought."
"Well, we still have a long drive ahead of us... Why don't you take a little nap? I'll wake you when we get there."
Adam responded with a soft hum, leaning back and closing his eyes, letting his exhaustion take over as he fell asleep.
Karakura Town
"Adam?"
"Mmmm..."
"Rise and shine buddy, we're here…"
"Give me… five more minutes… "
Beeeeeeeeeeeeep!
The young teen jumped in his seat, quickly sitting up since he had slouched during his sleep. He could feel the seat belt tightened when he pulled himself forward, cutting into his clothes.
Adam then turned to his side, seeing his uncle give a playful smile.
"We're here," Ray remarked.
"Gee, I couldn't guess," his nephew retorted with an annoyed tone. "Unc, you could've just shook me awake."
"I did, you were dead as a doorknob."
All that did was make Adam glare as he unbuckled, exiting the car and looking around his new neighborhood. It showed to be a traditional standard Japanese neighborhood, with multiple houses down each block, packaged next to each other like a can of sardines.
There were a few with a bit of space, like his Uncle's, which had not just a front yard, but a back as well.
While the young teen grabbed the lease and began unlocking Ajax's cage, his uncle began unloading his stuff, walking into the house with it and unloading it before coming back for another suitcase.
"I'm surprised that you guys came to live here," Adam mentioned as he let Ajax out to stretch and sniff around. "I always thought you'd be next door when I was younger."
"Ah well," Ray began as he grabbed another suitcase. "Your Aunt was originally born here, and after being in the U.S for so long, she missed it and wanted to get back to her roots."
His nephew nodded before going to close the trunk of the car after his uncle grabbed the last suitcase.
Soon, the Duo walked up the path leading to the Door, seeing it open as they passed through and entered their new home.
Before Adam went in further, Ray cleared his throat as he looked down at his feet.
Realizing what he meant, the teen took off his sneakers, putting them next to the other pairs of shoes that were there. After doing so, he grabbed a spare pair of slippers and walked in with his dog following. They found themselves in the living room, seeing his Aunt helping her husband put the suitcases somewhere they wouldn't bother anyone.
Unlike his uncle, Matsuoka Martinez looked more like she belonged in Japan than him or her husband, having a petite figure and black hair that reached past her shoulder. The outfit she currently wore was a simple white blouse with jeans underneath and a pink frilly apron over them.
Her attention shifted when she heard the tapping of Ajax's claws against the wooden floor.
Matsuoka gave a sad smile, walking to her Nephew and giving a gentle hug, which he reciprocated with a bit of relief.
It's been a long time since he felt some familiar warmth, and he let it soak in before she let go to look at him.
"My god," she began. "Look how big you've gotten! I swear, I feel like you'd probably end up being taller than me at this point."
Adam blushed slightly as she looked him over, dusting off some of the water from the light drizzle that was still outside.
"How are you?"
"I'm OK," he replied with a tired tone. "It's just been kind of a rough ride, and with the flight, I'm just kind of out of it."
She gently placed a hand on his cheek and smiled, noticing his pet next to him, looking at her with wide eyes.
"And who is this little cutie?" She uttered in a cutesy tone, kneeling down to rub his back and pet him.
"Ajax. I actually found him when you and uncle last visited, just showed up on my porch one day."
"Well, good thing we came prepared," she replied before getting up and pointing towards the backyard.
Adam followed her hand, noticing the dog house that was outside, which seemed almost recent as it was in brand-new condition.
Part of him wasn't looking forward to having to leave his buddy outside, but it was their rules so he had no choice in the matter.
"But, since it's your first night, I can let him sleep with you for tonight."
That made Adam smile in relief, causing him to kneel down and rub his dog's head.
"Well, with that out of the way," his uncle added as they turned to him. "Why don't you sit down and have some dinner. You must be starving after such a long nap."
Before he could reply, his stomach decided to answer with a large growl, making him blush as Matsuoka chuckled. His uncle mentioned having to fix something upstairs, leaving his nephew alone with his wife.
After taking the leash from Ajax, and leading him to where his bowls were to eat, the teen walked to the table as he took a seat.
His aunt went to the kitchen, gathering the meal that she prepared along with the pot of rice that she made as well.
Before Adam could look over his surroundings, the lights started flickering off and on suddenly, making him look at his aunt with confusion.
"Are you messing with the wires again?!" His aunt shouted.
"...Maybe!" was the only response they got as they laughed at the response.
Night
With Dinner, followed by a long explanation of the rules and standards they asked Adam to follow, the young teen made his way up the stairs as his guardians mentioned that his room was ready.
He saw a few rooms when he got to the top, though the one that caught his eye was the door with a letter on it.
After a few steps with Ajax following, his master grabbed the letter, opening to read what it said.
'Adam, we hope that you find this room ok, especially with everything that happened.
I know we can't replace your parents, but I hope you know that if you ever need to tell us something, don't hesitate.
My brother meant the world to me and you do too.
Sincerely, Unc'
The teen smiled at his uncle's letter, folding it as before, and opening the door to see what his room would be.
It was a bit smaller than his previous room, but it still had a cozy feeling when he looked around at the furniture. His drawer was a wooden one with a desk next to it, which had a computer with a ribbon tied on it. Not only that, but his window curtains were see-through slightly, letting him look outside without anyone noticing. Lastly, the bed he had was a twin, not big enough to have a lady friend over, but it suited him fine. The only thing he missed was having a T.V, but per the rules, he had to watch T.V in the living room.
Regardless, he turned on the light and walked over to his bed, sitting down and beginning to strip down to his boxers and muscle shirt. With a yawn, the teen got comfortable as Ajax started nesting a bit before finding his sweet spot and lying down.
In a matter of minutes, the pooch was already napping.
"Guess you had a long day too, huh boy?" he whispered while gently rubbing his head.
With one last look out his window, the teen sighed as tears flowed down his face, causing him to wipe them away before settling under the covers.
That night, nobody could hear the muffled crying he did until he fell asleep, unaware of what was to come with his new life.
Well here it is, the first re-written portion of Chapter one, and yes, I know it's not that much. I can't exactly make lemonade with so little lemons, so sue me. In any case, be sure to keep an eye out for my other updates, it will take a while, but I hope to one day get back to where I was.
Until Next time
