Just a short thing I wrote last year that I never typed up. Well, here it is and I hope if any of you who read my other stories won't try to kill me. Hopefullly... Don't own HP or Fall Out boy songs. Wish I did though, I'd be rich. Think JKR would give me all of her money? Yeah, me neither.
Shot in the Dark
Harry smirked as he stepped onto the stage, confident and prepared. The club was packed and eagerly awaiting live music that Harry and his band was willing to give.
The noise lessened as he walked up to the microphone. "Hello Club Liquid!" He yelled, smiling as they cheered back. "I'm Lightning and we are the Boys Who Won't Die!" He paused for more cheers. "The first song is called 'The Pros and Cons of Breathing, by Fall Out Boy!" The screams came again but ignored them in favour of pitching his guitar. He took a breath and sang to his waiting audience.
"Bury me standing under your window,
With the cider block in hand.
Yeah, 'cause no one will ever feel this again,
and if I could move I'm sure it would be,
to crawl back to you.
I must have dragged my guts a block,
they were gone by the time we..."
He paused to breath and gazed out into the crowd, trying to find that familiar hint of red.
"Whoa, I want to hate you half as much,
As I hate myself.
(But) you know I could crush you with my voice."
There were many redheads in the building, mostly dyed, but not the redhead he wanted.
"Stood on my roof and tried to see you forgetting about me,
hide the details, I don't want to know a thing."
The verse carried on and Lightening was still singing, but his mind wasn't really with it.
"I hate the way you say my name like it's something secret,
my pen is the barrel of the gun,
remind me which side you should be on."
It was then that he saw her. The redhead enchantress, who had stolen his heart and kept it. She who had then betrayed him and broke him. At that moment, their eyes met; emerald on electric blue. The chorus was for her.
"Stood on my roof and tried to see you forgetting about me,
hide the details, I don't want to know a thing."
Silently, he said goodbye to the ones he loved and his band, knowing that he would never say it aloud.
"I wish that I was as invisible as you made me feel."
He gazed up at the beautiful assassin and nodded his head to her.
"I want to hate you half as much as I hate myself..."
As he finished the last line, a single shot rang throughout the room. People screamed and hot the floor, hands over heads. Some rushed around calling for an ambulance. No one noticed the blood-haired women with silent and regretful tears rolling down her face, gun hidden away but still in hand.
And throughout the commotion, Lightening, formerly Harry Potter lay dead on the floor, a bullet through his heart.
Love it? Hate it? Love it? (Sense the preference?) This, for once, is a kind of- hints at- a het relationship. GASP! The horror :) I didn't know I could write a story with a straight pairing... Please review, it makes my day!
