Title: Respite and Reflection
Disclaimer: I didn't create Sam and Dean. I did create Lucky. Go me.
Challenge Word: "safe"
Word Count: 200 words. Because fluff like this should run free.
Players: Go to Enkidu07's page, and you'll find all the usual suspects. Resistance is futile – you will be drabbleized. We're like the Borg, only cuter.
Spoiler Alert: None. Some Luckyverse sweetness.
Dean is stretched out on Baby's front seat, Sam's sprawled in the back, each trying to catch some sleep. Sam's doing a better job of it; Dean can hear his brother's breathing, deep and relaxed. They're broke so it's another night of sleeping outside.
Dean takes one more look before settling down. Sam's face looks so… young. He's actually got a faint smile on his face, and Dean is certain it's because of the black furball nestled comfortably up against Sam's neck.
Somehow this tiny creature is able to bring Sammy back, and for that Dean will be forever grateful to him.
A soft mew and Lucky has jumped up on the seat. In the blink of an eye he is snuggled into the crook of Dean's arm. The kitten wriggles close to him, licks his hand and settles down for the night.
The purring starts and it spreads through the Hunter like a soothing balm. He knows that dark dreams will not haunt their sleep tonight.
Dean smiles. He's out in the middle of nowhere with his ginormous little brother and a cat that thinks he's a lion.
He hasn't felt so warm and safe in a long time.
