I blame coffee. Coffee always does this. This is just a character study on the TMNT and their weapons. Spell-check was a beech on this one.
Disclaimer: I solemnly swear I am up to no good. Pssh, no. Anything that I put on fanfiction is not used for monetary gain. I do not own the Ninja Turtles. I probably never will.

First is Leo. This one's pretty simple: His katanas are one of the most well known and honored weapons of Japan. Straight and official, never bending. Also make the note that there are two of them, to represent that he is always ready, and can't be caught off his guard.
Second is Raph. It's no mistake that sais are designed to be good weapons against katana. They are built to catch the blade between they're tongs, twist. And snap the metal. This clearly represents the continuing rivalry between Raph and Leo. But it also represents how similar they are. The katana and the sai are both bladed weapons, and both can be fought with double of the items in question.
Now we have Don, which admittedly was a tricky one. But it's clear that Don's bo staff is his personality; not as dangerous as Raph and Leo, but when used with strategy and cunning can be a deadly weapon. It is also him in the way that it is a tool. I know what you're thinking now, so get your brain out of the gutter! But it's true. Those who know about simple machines (come on, we've all been in that one science class) will know about levers, so technically the bo staff is machine, which matches Don's love for mechanics.
Last but certainly not least, my personnel favorite, Mikey. Mike's nunchucks were probably the hardest to figure out, but I did it! Nunchucks are one of the most difficult weapons to master, reflecting Mikey's natural (if not ironic) ability for ninjitsu. Nunchucks are also a free-style tool, just like Mikey is. Flexible, durable, that's our turtle. But it's also and unlikely deadly weapon. Nunchucks can generate more than enough force to break a bone, and should not be messed with.
