When Sasuke and Naruto first kissed, there were no rainbows, butterflies or bells ringing. They only felt the hot summer heat around them, Sasuke's cold hands on Naruto's cheeks, and Naruto's warm hands on Sasuke's shirt.
It was not much, just lips pressed hard against the other's, but they felt like they could have died right there and then.
When Sasuke left, it rained for a week. It was still summer. It was still hot as hell, and the rain did nothing but annoy everyone in Konoha.
As Naruto gathered his things for his training trip with Ero-sennin, he looked through his bedroom window. He couldn't see it from his room, but he knew the forest was there. The forest where he kissed Sasuke for the first time, and the same forest where Naruto had let him go.
When Naruto saw Sasuke again, he understood the reason why he wouldn't just give up on that bastard.
It was really hot, and when Sasuke approached, Naruto thought he was going to kiss him again.
Sasuke didn't. He said he was going to kill Naruto, but Naruto knew, as he looked Sasuke in the eye while the Uchiha moved away, that Sasuke had never meant it all the times he had said it.
When Sasuke and Naruto kissed for the second time, there were still no rainbows, butterflies or bells ringing. They only felt the hot summer heat around them, their broken bones, and exhausted breaths. And the taste of blood.
Naruto looked at Sasuke lying on the floor, called him bastard and smiled. Sasuke looked at Naruto leaned against a tree and said nothing, but his eyes showed more than the traitor could ever put into words.
Naruto smiled even wider. It's time for you to come back home.
Sasuke couldn't agree more.
