So this is the last chapter of this story. It is well past time for the story to have reached it's conclusion. I love this story, but I am happy with this ending. I am typing this in the hospital and I've gotten a surge of inspiration for all of my stories, so let's see how long that lasts. Also my sister and I are still having financial troubles and she is living in the car and the weather is turning cold here. Since I'm in the hospital there isn't much I can do, but if any of you could go to my go fund me page and donate or share to someone who can I would really appreciate it. It's been a hard day without my mom and brother, but hopefully things will start looking better soon. I'm going to shut up now and let you enjoy this final chapter. Leave me some love at the bottom if you are so inclined:)
THREE MONTHS LATER
"Oh Eric, you have the most amazing hands."
"Your back has been bothering you more lately. Are you sure that you don't want me to call Dr. Ludwig to come and check on you?"
"She was here just a few days ago and I am right on schedule."
"I know, but you are getting closer and closer to your due date and I hate seeing you so uncomfortable. Plus I pay her enough for her to be at your beck and call at this point.
"Honey, I promise that I will have you call the doctor the second that I feel it is needed."
"Thank you." I kissed the back of her neck and returned to massaging her sore back. "When are Fintan and Adele coming back?"
"They are suppose to be coming back sometime today. Time is a bit wonky between here and the Fae Realm. I do know for sure that for them it has been longer than three months. It feels like she's been gone for a lifetime."
"You miss her, don't you?" I glanced at her face and I could see tears on her cheeks. "Oh my love, don't cry. You know that I hate it when you cry."
"I'm sorry, I just do miss her so much. We've never been apart this long before and I really need her now. Do I have everything that I need for the babies? Am I doing everything I need to do so that they'll grow big and strong? Am I going to be a good mother?" The tears were flowing more freely now, so I pulled my weeping wife into my lap and held her close.
"My love, I know this is a new experience for both of us, but I know that you are doing all that you should to take care of our children. By the way, how is Hadley feeling today?"
"She's actually feeling pretty good today. She went for a swim earlier and I believe she's napping right now."
"Do you want me to go check on her?"
"Not if it means that you'll stop rubbing my back."
I leaned in and kissed her neck again. "I promise that I will be quick about it. Would you like a snack while I'm wondering about?"
She snapped her fingers and a platter of fresh fruit appeared before her. "I've got that covered."
"You are getting lazy my love."
"I'll ease up on the magic when I am literally not so weighted down anymore. For now, I'm taking the easy way."
I leaned in and kissed her soft lips. "You take the easy way as much as you like for as long as you like. I'll be back in a few minutes." I slipped out of our room and was heading for Hadley's room when I felt a wave of magic wash over the house and the doorbell rang. That must be Adele and Fintan. I changed direction and made my way downstairs.
I opened the front door and my mouth dropped open at what I saw. It was Fintan and Adele, but they weren't alone. "Hello Northman. Are you going to invite us in? We would like to see our granddaughters and introduce them to their aunt and uncle."
I was still in shock. They had only been gone a few months from our perspective, but it had obviously been much longer for them. They were holding twin toddlers and Adele was at least three months pregnant with another child.
I finally managed to bring myself out of my stupor. "Please come in. Sookie, we have company."
She popped to my side and had a similar reaction as I did. "Cheese and rice Gran!"
"Hello Darling. I'd like you to meet your aunt and uncle, Lily Briana Brigant and Chase Tyson Brigant. Lily, Chase, this is Sookie and her husband Eric." The toddlers squealed and did full body waves at Sookie and myself. I was waiting for the scent of fairy to hit me, but it never came.
"You'll never be enticed by the scent of fairy again unless it is Sookie. You two are bonded and she's the only fairy you'll ever want to sink your fangs into, but you'll never hurt her."
"Well that's good to know."
Sookie took my hand and cuddled into my side. "I told you that you didn't have anything to worry about."
"You are right Lover. I should listen to you more often."
"Yes you should." She pulled me down for a kiss, then called upstairs. "Hadley, Gran and Granddaddy are here. God only knows how she'll react when she sees Gran with babies."
"I'll glamour her like I did when Adele went through her transformation."
"I don't want her to be brain damaged."
"She won't be Lover, I promise."
"If you say so." She turned back towards the stairs. "Hadley, come down here right now and see Gran." There was no answer and I could feel worry enter our bond. "I'm going to pop upstairs and check on her."
"I'll get everyone settled in." Sookie had one of the guest rooms furnished especially for them when we got home from New Orleans, but we were definitely not prepared for this.
Sookie popped away and I was mentally running through the list of items that would be needed as I led them upstairs when Sookie shouted for me. "Eric!" I instantly popped to her side hearing the panic in her voice.
I looked around and we were in Hadley's room and Hadley was standing next to her bed soaking wet and standing in a puddle. "Oh Shit!" It looked like Hunter was ready to come into the world.
I patted down my pockets looking for my phone when I realized I had left it in our bedroom. I went to get it so that I could call Dr. Ludwig when Sookie grabbed my arm, hard. "Eric!"
"Yes Lover, I know, Hunter is coming. I'm going to call the doctor right now."
"Eric!" She was becoming frustrated with me and as I looked her over I noticed that she was standing in a puddle as well. "Hunter isn't the only one coming right now."
She was panting and I could feel the contractions that were starting through our bond. "Adele, Fintan, we have a situation up here."
They came in the room less than a minute later and Adele immediately went into Mama Bear mode. She handed Lily to Fintan and shooed him out of the room. "Fintan, take the babies downstairs and call Dr. Ludwig. Eric, let's get these two into the master bedroom."
I was quick to scoop Sookie up into my arms and carry her to our bed. I set her down and she clutched my hand tighter than ever as an especially strong contraction washed over her. "Eric, I changed my mind. Hunter is more than enough for us. I don't want to have the babies anymore."
"It's a little late for that my love."
"It hurts really bad." I watched a few stray tears slide down her cheeks and I didn't want her to have any regrets or misgivings about having our babies.
I sat down next to her on the bed and poured all the strength and love I had for her through our bond. "I know it hurts now, but this is a fleeting pain. Just focus on what it's going to be like after, having our children. Think about holding our sons and daughter and how much love and joy they will bring into our lives."
"You don't play fair."
"No I don't."
"You better be willing to heal me fully after this Mister."
"You don't even need to ask. I would never allow you to suffer more than is absolutely necessary."
She stopped to breathe through another hard and intense contraction. "I want you to know that this might be our one shot at having our own babies. I don't know if I can go through this again."
"It doesn't matter to me how many children we have. If we are somehow blessed with more Hunters or you decide that you want more in the future, or if we stay with these three angels that we are about to have, our family will still be perfect."
Adele and Hadley came in then and Adele got Hadley situated next to Sookie on the bed. A few minutes later Dr. Ludwig appeared and the next few hours were filled with screams, curses, orders and finally the wonderful cries of our children.
At 3:36 pm Hunter Alexander Northman entered the world. At 3:40 pm, Adalyn Gabriella Northman came into the world followed two minutes later by Wesley Corbett Northman. All three babies were hail and healthy and so were Sookie and Hadley. Fintan used his fairy magic to heal Hadley and took her back to her room while Sookie and I bonded with the triplets.
I was holding Hunter while Sookie held Adalyn and Wesley. They were content in their mother's arms, but Hunter wasn't. I couldn't tell right away what was wrong, but it quickly hit me like a ton of bricks. Running on instinct I brought my finger to my mouth, pierced it on my fang and slipped it into Hunter's mouth. "Eric, what are you doing?"
I only allowed him a few drops before pulling my finger away, but that was more than enough. He calmed instantly and seemed to slip into a bond with his brother and sister. "Don't you feel that Sookie?"
"Feel what?"
"The twins are a part of our bond because of our blood, but Hunter didn't have that. He was feeling left out. Now he is just as much a part of us as they are."
I watched Sookie close her eyes as she probed our bond and a smile appeared on her face. "How did you know?"
"I'm his father. I'll always know what he needs." I sat down on the bed next to Sookie and took Wesley from her and lay Hunter in her arms. "I also know that my boy is hungry for something only his mother can give him."
"I hope I make enough milk to feed all three of them."
"Of course you will my love because we both know that this was always how it was suppose to be."
"Yes it is."
