The Wizarding School
Dumbledore sat at his desk lost in deep thought. It had been a month or so since Cedric Diggory's death at the hands of Voldemort and it had sent shock waves through the wizarding community. To top things off his old friend Sherlock had brought a murder to his attention. A murder that pointed to a wizards involvement. Not just any wizards involvement, but Lord Voldemort himself.
The Dark Lord had wasted no time at all since his resurrection. How could none of them have seen this coming? No one in the wizarding world had even considered that it would have been possible. Dumbledore coughed and got out of his chair to go admire his phoenix Faux. He smiled as he pet Faux's feathers and turned around to see Professor Snape standing in the doorway.
"You look worried my old friend."
Severus frowned. "It would appear that Lord Voldemort had hired a muggle woman to break into the Ministry of Magic to steal a prophecy."
"Hmmm. He will no doubt kill her once she collects it for him."
"Yes I have believed that to be the case ever since I heard of it."
"What does Sherlock think about this?"
"He is worried of course but..."
"What is it? What has he asked of you?"
"It's not me he is asking this of. He wants you to talk to Cornelius Fudge and..."
Dumbledore laughed. "Cornelius Fudge will not help us. He is too blind to the world around him. Always going on about 'he who must not be named'...As if Voldemort will somehow know and kill him from miles away. If anything Cornelius will turn against us and Harry."
"To stay secure in his position?"
"Yes and to make sure he doesn't become a target. We must help Sherlock's friend on our own. There is also the matter of Voldemorts request of you."
"To kill Sherlock when all is said and done. He will no doubt have me kill both Irene and Sherlock."
"We can't let that happen."
"I agree but what do you propose?"
Dumbledore raised his hand to stroke his beard and smiled. "You are still friends with Puck correct?"
"I wouldn't call him my friend but he is an acquaintance."
"If he has made himself available perhaps he could be of use to us."
"I think I have an idea of what your planning and I will ask him. I will depart for 221 B Baker Street at once."
"You can use this fireplace Severus."
Dumbledore reached into his desk and grabbed the bag of floo powder and handed it to Severus. Severus regarded it for a moment and took a handful.
"221 B Baker Street!"
In an instant green flames engulfed Snape and he was gone. Dumbledore smiled and sat back down at his desk once again.
Severus arrived to see Sherlock playing the violin. He listened for a beat and had to admit that Holmes was quite good. It took a moment for Sherlock to acknowledge him and he stopped playing.
"What news from Dumbledore?"
"Cornelius Fudge will not help us. We will have to help Irene on our own."
"How do you propose we do that?"
"I will have to take you both before the minister of magic."
"Ah..You want to bring us before him as two muggles that know a bit too much about your world. Though, once we are inside won't they keep a close watch on us?"
"We will use the same strategy we used at the party. Puck will accompany us and glamour the room so that it appears that we havent left."
"Won't the Minister see through such a facade?"
Snape smirked. "Not this Minister."
"How do we get in touch with Irene?"
"I will go to Malfoy manor and call upon her. I will help her avoid Wormtails meddling. Once we get to a safe location I will bring her here and we can make our move on the Minstry."
"What about the prophecy?"
Severus shook his head. "We can't allow Irene to get her hands on the real prophecy so I will prepare a lookalike and will switch them at my first oppurtunity."
"And when Voldemort finds out its a fake?"
"He will no doubt call upon me to bring both Irene and yourself before him. I will then have to kill you."
"What's you plan for that scenario?"
"Puck wont be impacted by my magic so he will pose as one of you and I believe he will call upon one of his fae comrades to impersonate the other. I will use the death curse on you both and they will in turn use a glamour to mimic the appearnace of being struck by the death curse. I will then transport your bodies to an alley near your home. You will call upon Lestrade to collect them and take them to the morgue. Once there they will go back to Avalon."
"It does appear to be a brilliant plan. How can we be sure that Voldemort wont have you followed. That's why you will have to lay low for awhile. Also...to keep up appearances you will have to once again fake your death so Watson cannot know."
At that instant Dr. Watson burst into the room with a scowl on his face. "Don't be a fool!"
Watson looked to Severus and shook his head. "Why should we trust that this plan will go off without a hitch? Don't you realize how much is at stake?"
"I understand your concern Watson but this is the best plan. Either I kill Sherlock or Voldemort will send someone else."
"So why can't we just leave England?"
"Voldemort has spies everywhere. You only just learned of magic so please don't presume to know what you don't."
"So you fake your death again? Were you going to tell me this time or once again leave me to mourn your passing?"
"That is irrelevant to the case Watson. We will have to go along with Snapes plan. It is the best chance to keep both myself and Irene safe. Since you know of the plan prepare a boat and once this is all over we will disguise ourselves and head over to the states."
Severus nodded. "I will discuss the plan with Puck and I am sure he will help conceal you until you are out of harms way. This plan will work."
"I must be on my way to inform Irene of our plan. I will call upon you when I am satisfied with the preparations."
Snape departed the way he came leaving Sherlock and Watson alone.
"I hope you know what your doing."
"Me too old friend. Me too."
