She was in darkness, drowning. It was so hard for her to breath. Still she forced herself to take a breath.
She took a gulp of air that stung on its way into her lungs. She shuddered as she felt her body stitching itself back together. Coughing she tried to pull herself onto her knees from where she was laying on her stomach.
Sluggishly she opened her eyes and began to tense. She felt her armor slide into place as she tried to shake the fuzziness from her eyes. Her head throbbed but soon her vision cleared even though her body felt heavier than it should.
Coughing she felt her body pull itself together before she could push herself upright on her knees. Around her she could see the devastation the shockwave of the explosion created. The room was only stable because Eden had reinforced it with plant life.
She stood up with a slight growl as she noticed others pulling themselves from the rubble. Richard was pulling himself out of a wall shaking dust from his fur. Silverpool was sliding back into one spot her body slowly condensing as the liquid pooled. Eden was shaking her head as she lay on a thick branch and X-23 was growling as she healed from her injuries as she sat on another thick branch above them.
Coyote looked around and found the vampires also getting up. Caius and Felix were hissing as they stood while healing. She also caught a glimpse of the other vampire leader pulling himself out of a wall.
However all the other vampires that had been in the room when she first entered were nowhere to be seen. Each and every one of them having fallen to her comrades well before Aro exploded. She growled slightly as she realized she had just been the victim of another suicide bomber.
She hadn't had that luxury since that time in the hills of Turkey hunting down a particularly elusive clan.
As those around her shook off the effects of the bomb she strode towards the third leader since he was closest. Shock had always been a good friend of hers, so while he was still suitably stunned she put him out of his misery. A flash of gold claws and a whispered spell, the vampire was now dust at her feet.
"That fool," She heard making her turn to the last of the three leaders. "What was he trying to accomplish?"
"Does it matter?" Felix said rhetorically. "Master Caius, perhaps its best of you retreaded while there is still time."
The blonde looked reluctant but nodded. He was out the door rather quickly but with a howl Richard was on his heels in a flash. Coyote would have followed as well but Felix blocked her path.
She smirked as Silverpool, X-23, and Eden also took off after the fleeing vampire.
"It looks like it is just you and me, Belle." Felix said with a purr.
"There's nowhere for you to run to now." She said somewhat gleefully. "No escaping this time."
"Who's to say I was running away?" Felix said as he moved towards her, but she stood her ground. "Perhaps I was merely trying to get you to chase me."
"If you wanted to be chased you wouldn't have done so much to cover your tracks."
"Or I could have been under orders to not let you come to me until the time was right?" A smirked tugged his lips.
"Right for you to die you mean?" She said raising an eyebrow.
She lunged towards him with her claws lashing out. Her muscles burned still not fully mended but not quite protesting yet. Her arm and claws were extended as she made a swipe for his left arm.
He blocked her attack with a grin and she ducked under a punch that would have sent her to the ground. She lunged up catching one of her claws on his abdomen only to be kicked back. Her body hit stone and it felt like her bones rattled in protest.
She gasped slightly as he appeared in front of her slamming his hand right into her chest. She could feel her sternum compress painfully into her chest cavity as he pushed her up. His hand pressed her there between hard marble and his cold flesh.
"Seems your healing is a bit slow," he purred into her ear. "Perhaps all I needed to do to slow you down was to blow you up first."
Coyote fought and gasped for a breath to fill her near deflated lungs. It seemed like every nerve in her body was stinging and on fire as she coughed in Felix's hold. She couldn't understand why her healing seemed so sluggish since she had been able to easily walk away from worse explosions before with all her injuries healing in seconds.
Still she fought the shaking weakness she felt to lash out with her claws at the arm holding her. Felix was faster however and she soon found her hands captured above her head. She kicked at him as she gathered enough air in her lungs for a deep breath.
He was grinning down at her like he won, when she let out a loud feral whining howl that made him wince slightly.
"Quit that," He snapped taking his hand from her chest to slap it across her face.
With his hand gone from her chest she took several deep breaths. The oxygen both stung and soothed her throat as she felt herself regain a bit more of her bearings. She knew if she hadn't had her armor out the hit to her face would likely have crushed her jaw.
Suddenly hard cold lips crushed into hers cutting off her air supply once more. She fought the urge to snarl as she kicked at Felix to get him off. All it did was cause the vampire to press his massive hard form against hers pressing her into the marble wall behind her.
Her lungs were burning for air once more as she did her best to shake him off her. She could feel her heart beating wildly in her chest making her already ragged body pulse in agony. Her head was soon spinning as she felt her heart sink into her stomach.
The utter helplessness of her situation caused tears to sting at the back of her eyes. Still she refused to give up as she tried to force one of her legs in between their two bodies to kick him off. All her struggles got her was him hooking his free arm around one of her legs to keep it somewhat contained as he pressed further into her.
Just as she felt like she was going to pass out from the dizziness of pain and lack of oxygen he pulled away from her with a startled gasp. She could feel his hands tighten almost painfully on her captured limbs but she wasn't the one that groaned. Her mind tried to register what was going on, when a low angry growl from behind Felix helped her snap to.
"Let her go you worthless piece of scum," Daken managed to word through the feral sound he was emitting deep in his chest.
One of Daken's hands grasped Felix's shoulder and in a great show of force the older mutant ripped the startled vampire away from Coyote. Felix was lifted off the ground thanks to Daken's claws piercing the vampire's back. Then with a low growl Daken tossed the larger man towards the other side of the room.
Coyote sank to the ground panting with pain. She was still very confused but content that Daken was there to help her. Her relief was short lived as the massive form of Felix rose in the middle of the room.
Daken turned to her slightly and gave a low growl. It wasn't quite a question but Coyote responded with a nod. She would be fine, she wasn't a hundred percent at the moment but no permanent harm had been done.
Coyote used the wall to get to her feet as Daken stepped forward to put himself between her and the vampire. Felix eyed the two of them with a frown as he got into a fighting stance. Daken growled and took another step forward.
Like a silent signal was given, the two males launched themselves against each other. Coyote stood back gathering herself as her body continued to stitch itself together. She could only compare the fight to watching a lone wolf attack a grizzly bear.
Daken would strike quickly before backing up. He stalked around Felix's larger form and lashing out where he could. He would flow through his stances like the trained fighter he was.
Felix was a man of power but skill. He fought like a pro-MMA fighter trying to catching Daken in a hold. The missed punches cracking the already uneven ground at their feet.
Blow after blow was exchanged and Bella cringed when one of Daken's claws was suddenly snapped in two. His pain filled howl echoed in her ears making everything seem to freeze. She shut her eyes and tried desperately to hold her breath.
The scent of pure pain and hurt and pack filled her senses. This wasn't a controlled manipulation of pheromones. Not like Daken usually did, but a release of it to the point it was dizzying.
Her world bled red.
She felt herself get swept up and out. All that was left was the animal. Snarling, vicious, monstrous in intention and power.
Once again things went black.
YAY! Sorry for how short it is, but I only have a few more chapters until this one is finished. I plan on there being a final installment after this one but I only have a few loose outline stuff for it at the moment. I just need to get through this one which is cringe worthy slow at this point because i was away from it for so long. I'll try getting the next chapter up within a week or two though, wish me luck.
