"DADDY!"
Rose stood in the corner of her bedroom, shaking. Her eyes were wide and staring at the thing she feared so much as her father rushed in.
"What's wrong?" Ron asked, kneeling down to her. She didn't say anything, but Rose pointed behind him to the other side. On the wall, there was a rather large spider, crawling upwards.
He gulped. It had been quite a while since his last run-in with a spider. Even after all of the fearsome things he had been through, Ron was still deadly afraid of spiders.
Ron remembered when the locket horcrux had shown him the things he feared most... Hermione going off with Harry, both of them insulting him, spiders crawling all around him...
He thought about the beautiful wife he had waiting for him downstairs and how what the locket had shown him never came close to happening. Ron smiled. If it was wrong about Harry and Hermione, he wasn't about to let it be right about something else.
Ron rushed out of the room and came back with an old copy of the Daily Prophet, one they were about to throw out. He walked straight up to the wall, took a deep breath, and- without hesitating- brought the rolled up newspaper down onto the spider.
Rose smiled and ran over to hug him. "Thank you, Daddy!"
Ron grinned down at his little girl. He ruffled her hair then walked into the hallway to get rid of the soiled newspaper to see none other than Hermione standing there, still holding the dish towel she had been using, and smirking.
"Didn't I tell you you'd get over that someday?" She said, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Yeah. And you're always right, right?" Ron joked.
Hermione laughed and hit him gently with the dish towel.
"Good to know I married a brave man." She gave him a quick peck on the lips before returning to her chores.
My first venture into this fandom. What do you think? Just something short I wrote last night. Please review!
