(A/N Hey everyone! This is my first Percabeth fanfic, so please be nice. It is set right after the end of "The Bronze Dragon" in the Demigod Files. If you haven't read that, then you should. It's awesome! Anyway, please R&R! Thanks!
Disclaimer: I do not own Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
Annabeth turned. "See you at the fireworks?" she winked. Then she dashed off.
"Did she—just ask me out?" I asked, wrinkling my eyebrows in confusion.
Beckendorf shrugged, but Travis scowled. "Who knows with girls?"
I looked in the direction he was currently glaring, and saw Katie Gardner laughing with Silena.
So, we sat and picked at the grass while the girls won the game.
I was standing in front of my mirror 30 minutes before the fireworks were due to start, desperately trying to flatten my spiky hair.
I sighed in defeat and ripped the brush from my hair when I hear a knock on the door.
When I opened it, I could only stare, slack-jawed at the goddess in front of me.
Annabeth was wearing a sea-green v-neck and navy shorts, but to me she looked amazing. As a friend, of course.
"Hey, Seaweed Brain." She greeted me.
"H-hey Wise Girl." (That was my brilliant response.)
She laughed, and tugged at my hand.
"Let's get to the beach before it's too late."
Once we were at the beach, sitting on the farthest dock, I looked around.
I saw Grover and Juniper kissing next to her tree (gross!), and Clarisse and Chris lying on the grass.
Silena was tugging Beckendorf around with her to say hi to everyone, and I felt really bad for him.
And then, I made the mistake of looking back at Annabeth.
Even though she was like my best friend, I had to admit seeing her with her shiny blond hair tumbling down her back made my heart do jumping jacks.
I laid down on the blanket next to her and almost fell asleep listening to Chiron's boring speech.
"Percy?" she whispered. That jolted me out of my reveries. If she wasn't calling me Seaweed Brain, it was serious.
"Yeah?" I replied.
"I just wanted to say thank you for being my friend. I know you'd never abandon me like Thalia, or Luke, or Dad."
I went to cut her off, but she held up a finger to my lips, signaling for me to shut up or else.
"And…." She swallowed. "Thank you for leaving Ogygia."
My chest tightened when I realized she knew where I'd been. She gave me a sad smile.
"Annabeth?" I asked her.
"Yeah?" she whispered.
"Do you want to know why I left?" she nodded.
"Well….I, uh, I left because of…because of you."
It was hard for me to tell her that, but I figured she deserved to know.
Her eyes brightened slightly, and she tried to hide her grin.
Yep, it was definitely the right choice to leave.
"Thanks, Seaweed Brain." She said.
And then she leaned forwards slightly, and kissed my cheek.
That's when the fireworks started,
Sorry it was so short, but that's all I have.
Thanks for reading, and please review!
