1A/N: i DO NOT own NCIS. I thought of this oneshot while listening to my Ipod, Taylor Swift - Brought Up That Way. It is based on Tony and Kate being married before she joined NCIS and they had a daughter, who was six when her mom died. It's very short and the best I could do. Please review if you read it and any advice to improve my writing is welcomed.
Six year old Emily DiNozzo runs off the bus and straight to her house, tears pouring down her face. She runs to her dad, Tony Dinozzo and he sees she's crying. He says, "Baby girl what's wrong with you." She grabs his hand and says, "Please don't make me go back there again, I wish there was someway to make them stop it." "Tell me what happened Emily, what did they do to you?" Through the tears she says, "They keep making fun of me because they all have mommies and I don't have one anymore." He picks her up and says, "Let's go" They drive down to the school where he tells her to sit with the office assistant. Tony goes into the principles office and Emily can hear everything her daddy says. "I didn't bring her up so they could cut her down, I didn't bring her here so they could shut her out. I live my whole damn life to see that little girl smile, so why are tears pouring down that sweet face, she wasn't brought up that way. You need to do something about teasing, it's not her fault that her mother was killed protecting her conutry." "We will do everything we can Mr. DiNozzo, we don't tolerate bullying in this school." Tony gets up and picks up Emily and they head home.
Ten Years Later
Tony is looking out the living room window when he sees a black camero pull up in front of his house. He looks at his watch, it's 12:30, Emily is a half hour late. He sees his daughter get out of the car and then the camero speeds out of there. Emily walks in the front door and Tony notices something's wrong, she's not telling him all about her night like she usually does. She starts crying and he pulls her to him and hugs her. Through the tears she says, "He tried, but there's just somethings I won't do. I couldn't do that to you." Tony pulls her face to make her look up at him and says, "I didn't bring you up so he could wear you down, take that innocent heart and turn it inside out, I live my damn life to see my little girl smile, don't let nobody take that away, you weren't brought up that way." They hug more and Tony kisses her head and she goes to bed.
Five Years Later
On a rainy night, downtown, Emily is walking around trying to find the perfect birthday present for for dad. She sees a car coming towards her, it's too late for her to do anything. The car hits her and she goes flying a few feet. She's rushed to the hospital. barely breathing. One of the officers rides with her and calls her father on the way. The phone rings, "This is Tony." "This is Officer Tate, sir there's been an accident, you better get here right away, a drunken drive missed an overpass and Emily she's fading fast." "Thank you sir, I'm on my way." Tony gets to the hospital, where he sees Emily hooked up to wires and tubes. He says, "God, I didn't bring her up to watch them lay her down, nearly killed me the day they put her mama in the ground. Only thing kept me alive was that little girl's smile, so please don't take that away, it won't be easy taking her today. She wasn't brought up that way." He walks over to the bed and move the hair out of her face. Emily opens her eyes and looks into his.
