8Yo! Quick little one-shot I thought of in the library the other day humming to myself. Started humming this song and thought of Sirius Black. Don't own: Second Chance by Shinedown, Sirius Black, Regulus Black (one of my personal favorites), or the Potters.
My eyes are open wide, and by the way, I made it through the day,
I watched the world outside, and by the way, I'm leaving out today
I just saw Haley's Comet shooting

Somewhere in the stratosphere
Regulus Black was walking down the hall, when he heard a rustling noise coming from his older brother, Sirius', room. He tentatively walked towards the room and knocked on the door. The rustling stopped.
"Who is it?" came the frantic reply, the voice however, calmed Regulus a little.
"It's only me, Regulus," The younger boy confirmed.
"Oh," Sirius sighed, "Come in."
Regulus walked in and his suspicions were confirmed, there were papers, books, and clothes, both thrown about the room and put into a trunk. "What's going on?" Regulus asked, concern present on both his face and in his voice.

I'm not angry, I'm just saying
Sometimes goodbye is a second chance
"Nothing," Sirius replied sharply. Seeing his brother's worried face he cracked, "I'm leaving out today, Reg. Tell Mom and Dad, I'm not mad at you, just our 'parents'."
"No! You can't!" Regulus yelled, starting to cry, "You have nowhere to go! You'll be out on the streets and, and…"
Please don't cry one tear for me
I'm not of afraid of what I have to say
This is my one and only voice
So listen close, it's only for today
Sirius hushed him. "Don't cry one tear for me, Reg. I'll be fine. I'm gonna go live with the Potters. Just remember what I said, I'm leaving Mom and Dad, not you."
"I know Sirius, but I'm still gonna miss you." Regulus said calming down.
Here's my chance, this is my chance
Sirius came forward to give his brother a final embrace. For next time they would see each other, they'd be at school and Regulus would be a Death Eater.

"Don't worry Reg, sometimes goodbye is a second chance,"
At that Sirius headed out the door with his bag. Leaving Regulus with a heart that would quickly harden.
