Umm… Hi everyone… (ducks behind a chair) I am so sorry for the REALLY long wait. I have been so busy with my job, my musical and good news… I AM GETTING MARRIED! That's right, Grapejuice101 is going to get hitched in a couple of months! Anyways, lets go on with the show!

I do NOT own anything except my OC Sam!

Sam's POV

I felt like the world had stopped and everything was at a standstill. Here was Will still hugging me like he was afraid I would disappear from him. I felt so awkward, because not only this was "supposed" to be Merlin and my best friend, but it feels like Will, and I were in a relationship of some kind. Gosh, I hope not! I mean, don't get me wrong, Will is REALLY cute. However, I would be embarrassed if my "character" was in love with Will and dumped him before leaving for Camelot. But Will doesn't seem mad at me.

I slightly tapped his back, indicating if he could release me. I could feel someone's eye glaring at my back as Will finally let me go. I looked behind me to see Arthur was not glaring at me, but at Will. He had his arms crossed over his chest and his shoulders were stiff as a board.

I looked back at Will and cleared my throat. "It's… good to see you Will. Everything doing good here?" Will looked at me like I was crazy before I backpaddled what I said. "I mean, besides the attacks… and loss of food… and other things."

Will chuckled before wrapping his arm around my shoulder. "It's good to see you haven't changed Sami. We are handling it as well as we can. What about you and Merlin? I, er, hear you're both skivvying for some prince."

I giggled as answered, "No, I work at the castle gardens now. I mean, I was Arthur's handmaiden, but only Merlin works for him now and I wouldn't say we are a skivvy."

"Sam!"

I nearly jumped out of my skin when I heard Arthur's commanding voice behind me. I looked back to see his irritating face as he said, "Gather the villagers, I need to talk to them."

I nodded my head as I replied, "Will do, but I need to talk-"

"Now Samantha and get your idiot brother to do the same. There isn't much time."

I narrowed my eyes at his command. Did that prick interrupt me? He didn't allow me to reply as he walked to the center of the village. I looked back at Will to see him glaring at the prince.

"Not skivvy huh," he murmured.

I punched his shoulder to make him keep quiet before doing as Arthur ordered. Once everyone in the village gathered around Arthur, he looked around the crowd before he addressed them.

"I know Kanen's kind. He'll be back. And when he is, you must be ready for him. First of all, we have to prepare for..."

"Am I the only one wondering who the hell this is?"

I rolled my eyes knowing who the culprit was who interrupted Arthur. I looked over my shoulder to see Will walking up and standing beside me. Merlin looked at his best friend in disbelief.

Will's rude remark did not faze Arthur as he replied sternly, "I'm Prince Arthur of Camelot."

Will scoffed before wrapping his arm around my shoulder. My eyes widened when he pulled me closer to him. Both Merlin and Arthur were steaming mad at Will but in different ways. Merlin did not like that his best friend was being rude to the Prince of Camelot. However, Arthur did not like how close Will and I were.

"Yeah, and, er, I'm Prince William of Ealdor," he said in mockery. I elbowed him in the stomach, making him release me.

Hunith looked at Will sternly. "Keep quiet. He's here to help us."

"But he's made things worse," Will insisted before pointing to Arthur accusingly. "Kanen will be back, and when he is, he'll be looking for revenge. You've just signed our death warrants."

"He saved Matthew's life," Hunith shouted at the boy.

Arthur placed his hand on my mom's (this universe tv show mom) shoulder and reassured her. "That's alright, Hunith. This is his village." He looked back at Will and asked, "What would you have us do?"

Will walked closer to Arthur and answered, "We can't fight against Kanen. He has too many men."

I was already done with Will's idiotic behavior that I asked him, "Ok, so what do you think we should do?"

"Give him what he wants," Will answered.

Wrong answer Will. The village murmured in disagreement and looked at Will with disapproval. He did not let it affect him as he continued to glare at Arthur.

"Then what? Those of you who don't starve to death will face him again next harvest! And the harvest after that," Arthur pointed out, getting nods and agreements with the villagers.

Will rolled his eyes and retorted back, "We'll manage. We'll survive."

"How?" asked one of the men of the village.

Arthur said, "The only way he can be stopped is if you stand up to him."

Will had enough of the arrogant prince. "No! You just want the honour and glory of battle! That's what drives men like you! Look, if you want to fight, then go home and risk the lives of your own people, not ours!"

"Will, that is enough," Merlin said as he grabbed his friend's arm.

Will ripped his arm away before marching away. Merlin followed behind him. I was about to follow them, but I knew this talk was important for both Merlin and Will.

Later that night, we were sleeping in Merlin's and apparently my old house. Well, trying to get some sleep. Morgana, Gwen and I shared my old bed. While the girls and mom were sound asleep, I was wide awake. I was tossing and turning, trying to get comfortable without waking up the girls. I was about to close my eyes when I heard two voices.

"Have you always slept on the floor?" I heard Arthur whisper to my brother.

Merlin nodded his head and answered back, "Yeah. The bed I've got in Camelot's luxury by comparison."

The prince looked up at the ceiling and softly said, "Must've been hard."

"Mmm. It's like rock."

Arthur rolled his eyes at Merlin's joke. "I didn't mean the ground. I meant, for you. It must've been difficult."

"Mmm. Not really. I didn't know any difference. Life's simple out here. You eat what you grow, and everyone pitches in together. As long as you've got food on the table, family to support you and a roof over your head, you're happy."

"Sounds..." Arthur paused, trying to think of the right word. "Nice?"

Merlin softly chuckled and replied, "You'd hate it."

I smiled at their conversation. They sure are best friends, even if they do not see it right now. I slowly closed my eyes as I heard Arthur say, "No doubt. Why'd you and Sam leave?"

"Things just... changed."

And I was out like a light. The next morning, we all woke up and started to get ready. I was braiding my hair in a ponytail as I heard Morgana commented to Arthur, "You still not learned how to dress yourself?"

I looked over my shoulder to see Merlin was helping Arthur get dressed. Arthur scoffed before rebutting, "You don't have a dog and fetch the stick yourself. No offence, Merlin."

"None taken."

I finally finished my hair when Hunith walked over with Arthur's untouched bowl of oatmeal. "Prince Arthur, you didn't finish your breakfast."

Arthur's eyes widened as he faked surprise and took the bowl out of her hands. "Didn't I?"

Morgana smirked as she teased the prince. "Come on, eat up."

Arthur looked at his bowl before slowly pick up his spoon. He smiled at Hunith and slowly took a bite. When she walked away, Arthur immediately spit out the food back in the bowl. He handed me the bowl. I was disgusted.

"Right. Let's get going. We need wood, and lots of it," he said.

I nodded my head and said, "I'll go into the woods to retrieve them." As Arthur walked out of the room, I immediately handed Merlin Arthur's bowl. "You're his manservant, you finish his spit oatmeal food."

Merlin looked disgusted and appalled. Before he could reply, I walked out of the room to grab an axe. I was walking towards the woods when I heard someone behind me.

"Sami! Where are you going with that thing?"

I rolled my eyes and looked at Will to see him running up to me. "What does it look like genius? We need wood."

Will snorted in amusement. "We both know that you and Merlin don't need an axe to fell a tree. Merlin nearly flattened Old Man Simmons."

I laughed as I recalled the story Merlin told me. "Merlin said Simmons hated him and he was not sorry the tree broke Simmons leg."

Will laughed. "Ha. Yeah, well, he deserved it, stupid old crow."

I chuckled before I looked at Will. It became uneasily quiet.

"Why are you being like this?" I asked him softly.

Will's eyes harden before replying, "You know why." He suddenly sat down on the ground, pouting like a baby. I sighed before dropping the axe and sat next besides him He looked right into my eyes and asked, "Why did you leave? Why did Merlin leave?"

I sighed and looked down at my dirty hands. I said what Merlin said in the show. "We just had to leave. My mother was worried. When she found out you knew about Merlin and my gifts, she was so angry."

"I wouldn't've told anyone. I didn't and I had known for years."

I looked at him and said, "And I know you wouldn't, and I am truly grateful for that." I stood up, grabbed my axe and turned to walk deeper into the woods, looking for firewood.

"You'd be able to defeat Kanen on your own, wouldn't you?" Will blurted out. That made me stop my tracks. Could my magic stop Kanen? I turned my head slightly but I did not look at him all the way.

"I'm not sure. Maybe."

"Well, so what's stopping you? So what if Arthur finds out?" I immediately snapped my head to him and slowly walked back to Will.

"You don't know what you are saying," I said in a tight voice.

Will crossed his arms over his chest and said bitterly, "Try me, Samantha."

"One day Arthur will be a great king, but he needs mine and Merlin's help. And if anyone ever found out about our powers, I'd have to leave Camelot for good. And Camelot and Arthur will fall."

Will glared at me and he got close to my face. I stood my ground, but inside I was shaking. "Are you telling me you'd rather keep your magic a secret for Arthur's sake than use it to protect your friends and family?"

I narrowed my eyes at him. "That's not fair Will."

Will scoffed and said, "When is life ever fair? Think about that Sami."

I watched as he walked past me and back to the village. Let's just say, I put my anger on the wood I was chopping down.

It was about noon when I returned to the village with the wood. I saw Arthur was teaching the men how to fight with swords, well stick swords. I handed the wood to Hunith before I grabbed my bow and arrows.

ZZZIIIPPP!

I smiled as I landed on another bullseye. I was doing good, if I do say so myself. I was practicing my archery when I heard someone walking behind me. To my surprise, it was Matthew. I remembered this poor soul was going to die in this episode, leaving behind his fiancé.

"I apologize if I startled you Samantha," he said.

I laughed as I grabbed another arrow. "You didn't. I was just surprised that you wanted to talk to me." I pulled the arrow back and closed one of my eyes, ready to launch it.

"I just want to talk to you about your gift."

I gasped in shock before releasing the arrow. My eyes widened when the arrow missed the target and headed towards Merlin and Arthur.

"Arthur, Merlin, look out," I heard Morgana shout.

Thank God both boys ducked as the arrow flew passed them and landed on a wooden pole. They both slowly stood up and looked at me. Merlin looked shocked while Arthur was fuming.

"SAMANTHA! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING!?" screamed Arthur.

I lowered my bow and shouted back, "Sorry, my bad!"

"It was my fault sire," said Matthew startling me. "I frightened her and distracted her when she missed."

Arthur grumbled as he marched over to the pole and yanked my arrow out of it. Merlin followed him like a lost puppy. I took a deep breath before looking back at Matthew.

"How did…what are you…" I tried to speak.

Matthew chuckled before we both sat down on the grass. "I've known about your gift for a while. I remembered I had a woodcutting accident, and you used your magic to save me. You were about five years old and forgot to keep it a secret. You were so scared that you believed I would report you. But I couldn't do that, so I promised not to tell anyone that you had magic. And I kept that promise. I even saw you used your magic to make the bandit's sword flew out of his hand."

I must have looked frozen while Matthew was talking. So not only does Will know about my magic secret, but Matthew does too. I blinked out of my shock and looked down at the dirt.

"Would you believe me if I told you my magic expanded and now, I can see bits of the future," I whispered to him.

Matthew's eyes enlarged at this information. He leaned closer to me and whispered back, "You can see the future? Do we survive against Kanen?" I slowly looked up to him and looked dead into his eyes. His smiled dropped. "We don't… do we?"

I looked around us before answering, "Arthur is going to tell you to organize sentry duty to keep an eye out for Kanen and his men. You are going to ambushed and killed, but I have a plan." I opened my satchel and pulled out a wooden sparrow necklace. "Last night, I made this and placed a protection charm on it. The magic will make Kanen and his men believe they killed you, but it will be an illusion. I can't promise you that you will not get hurt, but I am hoping that the necklace will protect you from death, if you wear it."

Matthew looked at the necklace like he was calculating his decision. I was nervous to see what he will do. Slowly, he grabbed the necklace out of my hand and placed it around his neck.

"You saved my life when you were a child, I know you will protect me now," he said.

He left immediately afterwards as I continued to practice my archery. An hour later, as I was walking back to the house to freshen up, I noticed Arthur was talking to Matthew. Matthew got on his horse and I knew he was going to his mission to his death. Before he left the village, he saw me staring at him. Matthew pull out of his shirt the wooden sparrow necklace to show me he was wearing it. I watched as he kicked his horse and galloped away. I was so scared that my magic might not work again and Matthew will be dead like in the episode.

It was night time, but this time I allowed the girls to sleep in my bed while I will sleep on the ground with Merlin. They wanted to protest, but I insisted.

Merlin and I were awake when we heard Gwen whispered to Morgana, "We don't stand a chance."

"Arthur can't see that," Morgana pointed out. "He's too stubborn."

Gwen looked at Morgana and asked, "Why do you think he came here?

"The same reason we did: Merlin and Sam. Arthur may act like he doesn't care, but he wouldn't be here if he didn't."

"He must really care for her. He saved her from that witch and now he is willingly protecting her home," I heard Gwen said.

I looked at Merlin to see he was staring at me. He reached over to grab my hand. I smiled as I squeezed his hand before slowly drifting to sleep.

The next day, Arthur and Merlin was in the common building talking to the men of the village. Gwen, Morgana and I were sharping swords. I could tell the girls had a lot on their minds.

"How many did we do so far," I asked tiredly.

"So far, only ten," said Gwen as she placed her finished sword down.

"We only have five left. I fear we do not have enough," Morgana said sadly.

I looked up at Morgana and said, "Let's not be optimistic. We have to believe we will defeat Kanen." The girls looked at me skeptically. I sighed before continuing to sharpen the sword. "Things can't get worse right now."

As if karma answered back, I jumped as I heard one of the village women screamed. I looked over my shoulder and what I saw had made my heart stop. There was Matthew's horse galloping into the village all scared. Matthew looked dead as he slugged over his horse.

Arthur and the men rushed over as the prince commanded, "Get him down from there!"

I ran over to the horse, trying to calm him down. Secretly, I was praying my charm sparrow necklace worked. I looked over at Matthew to see if he was dead or alive. To my relief, he was alive! The arrow just hit his shoulder and the charm made the bandits believe he was dead! I did it! I saved another life, and my magic is working again!

I petted the horse's head as I asked, "Matthew, are you alright?"

He groaned as he was taken off the horse and Merlin pulled the arrow out of his shoulder. Merlin and Gwen immediately wrapped Matthew's shoulder to stop the bleeding.

"I am fine. I was ambushed by those bandits on the way back," he said.

Without looking suspicious, he looked at me and mouthed out a thank you for saving his life. Arthur noticed a note that was attached to the arrow. He grabbed the arrow out of Merlin's hand and read the note quickly and quietly.

Merlin looked at the prince and asked, "What does it say?"

Arthur looked grim before replying "It says, 'Make the most of this day, it will be your last.' They are trying to scare us off."

I nearly jumped out of my skin as a young lady screamed for Matthew and ran up to him. I realized that this lady must be his fiancé. I remembered in the episode she was bailing her eyes out for her dead fiancé. She slammed into Matthew but immediately apologized when he grunted in pain.

"I am alright Juliette. Just a little sore, my love," Matthew said softly.

I looked over my shoulder to see Arthur standing next to me. I did not think anything of it, but Will had other ideas. He was boiling mad. Not only did Matthew almost died because of the spoiled prince, but Will did not like how close Arthur was to me. His protective instinct kicked in.

Will immediately rushed over to us, grabbed my arm and pulled me behind him. I nearly tripped at the sudden movement and was shocked. Will got right into Arthur's face and started screaming, "You did this! Look what you've done! You've nearly killed Matthew!"

I matched over and pushed Will away from Arthur. "Will, what the hell is your problem?"

"Stay out of this Sami," Will said while continuing to glare at Arthur.

"It wasn't his fault. He did not predict this would happen," I retorted back!

Will scoffed at me. "If he hadn't been strutting around, treating us like his own personal army, this would never have happened!"

"William, that is enough! It is not the prince's fault," Matthew said sternly. However, he grunted as he held his wounded shoulder.

"It is not fine! You were almost killed and now you are injured! It will take months for your shoulder to heal, and you will not work to keep your livelihood until you are completely cured," Will yelled back at Matthew.

Arthur spoke up as he pointed to the villagers. "These men are brave enough to fight for what they believe in, even if you aren't!"

Will glared at the prince before shouting out, "You're sending them to their graves! You killed one man. How many more need to die before you realize this a battle that can't be won? When Kanen comes, you haven't got a chance. You're gonna be slaughtered."

Without another word, Will marched back to his home. Arthur looked dishearten before clearing his throat. "Hunith, Gwen. Take Matthew back to the house to make sure his shoulder is not infected."

While they took Matthew and Juliette to the house, Merlin and I looked at each other before we ran after Will. It's time to get sense into the stubborn boy's head and I am hoping to change his fate in the show.

OMG DID I FINALLY FINISH THE CHAPTER! Again, I am SOOOOOO SORRY It has been almost a year since the last update. Sadly, my phantom story is still in hiatus until I can figure out this writer's block. I can't promise anything, but I will try my hardest to update the next and last chapter of this episode.

Now here is the question; Should Sam change the episode and save Will or should Will die like in the original episode? Tell me in the comments!

Until next time…
