Disclaimer: Yeah, I sooooo own Harry Potter! I wish! But siriusly (only true HP fans will understand that pun) if I really owned Harry Potter, would I be writing on Fanfiction? Most likely no.
How Far We Have Come
"Do you remember the day we met?" The red haired man asked, smiling at his beautiful wife.
"Of course I do! How could I ever forget!" the woman responded. "Especially with you reminding me every day how snooty you thought I was at the time!"
He chuckled, "Well you must admit you were a bit of a know it all."
"Ouch, I'm really wounded." She said attempting to look hurt without bursting out laughing.
"Yeah, I can tell, I really cut you deep that time." He was also failing miserably in his attempt to not explode from his pent up laughs.
The couple locked eyes and could no longer control their laughter. They burst into a fits of giggles and it took several minutes for them do regain full control over their breathing.
They lay on the couch panting heavily, staring into eachother's eyes. Ron reached out a hand to stroke his wife's soft, silky curls. He smiled to himself as he wrapped a ringlet around his finger.
"Well your hair has certainly lost its bushiness. In fact, I kind of miss it." Hermione smiled at this, remembering full well his constant teasing of her bushy hair.
Yes, he had teased her but he was always first to defend her after Malfoy had thrown one of his snide remarks at her. He had endured many nasty things in order to protect her. Once he even ended up coughing up slugs after Malfoy had called her a mudblood. He knew that she could hold her own yet he always felt the need to defend her honor. What a fine, noble man he is.
As Ron watched her eyes become clouded with memories, he too became lost in thoughts of the past.
Oh Hermione, how did I ever come to deserve someone like you? So brave, so beautiful, so kind! She had always been the first to help others that needed her. Friend or acquaintance or even pure strangers. Just think of what she did for those house elves. True she did nearly drive us all over the edge with the whole bloody S.P.E.W affair but she still meant well. What a wonderful woman she is.
The two sat, side by side, lost in fond memories of their shared past. They had bickered and fought constantly since that fateful day they had met on the Hogwarts Express but they had loved eachother just as constantly as they had fought.
He gazed at her. She certainly wasn't the bushy-haired know it all he had met on the train. No, the woman sitting before him now is the most perfect, beautiful, amazing person he could ever meet.
She gazed back at him. He certainly wasn't the childish, immature boy she had met on the train anymore. NO, the man sitting in front of her is the bravest, kindest, most wonderful person she could ever meet.
His ocean blue eyes locked with her hazel ones. Ron leaned in and gently kissed his beautiful Hermione.
Oh how far they had come.
The End
