"I figured it out" said Kira
Samui, Karui, and Lacus turned towards Kira and saw his pupils had disappeared. Kira let go of the feeling and they returned to normal.
"How did you do it" asked Karui
"You have to fully commit to something for it to happen" explained Kira
"We were committed to protecting that shuttle and Lacus was committed to not being left behind" he finished
"Makes sense" said Samui
"What did you use" asked Lacus
"I wanted to protect you" said Kira smiling
"I don't need to be protected" huffed Karui looking away
Working from that, the three of them soon were able to activate it at will as well.
Sometime later they received confirmation that Alaska was the target of Operation Spitbreak.
"Looks like you were right Samui" said Lacus
"How am I going to get access to the Freedom" asked Kira
"Its pilot is going to have a test flight soon" said Lacus
"Excellent" said Kira
"I will head to Alaska first to check out the situation before going to Orb" he said
"I will join you there then" said Karui
"Since they will probably send the Justice after you" she said
"Understood" said Kira
He left and put on a ZAFT Red uniform before going to the Freedom's hanger. When he arrived, he was allowed in and guided to the locker room and put on a pilot suit. He then got into the Freedom and started it up.
"After you launch, you are to test out all of its systems and weapons to get used to them before returning" said the operator
"Understood" said Kira
The Freedom launched and Kira tried everything out. Everything worked out perfectly.
"I am definitely keeping this one" thought Kira
"Very good" said the operator
"Now return" they said
"I'm sorry, but I can't do that" said Kira
"WHAT" yelled the operator
"Stop him" they shouted
A couple of GINNs tried to stop him only for Kira to easily destroy them and leave the area.
After re-entry he arrived above Alaska and took in the situation. That was when he noticed something strange. The Archangel was trying to leave the battlefield.
"Why would the Archangel want to leave" thought Kira
"They didn't strike me as deserters" he thought
Seeing a GINN about the destroy the Archangel's bridge, he took it out and contacted them.
"Why are you trying to leave the battlefield Captain Ramius" asked Kira
"What are you doing here" asked Murrue
"Checking out the situation" said Kira
"Now, why are you trying to leave" he asked
"There is a Cyclops system beneath headquarters" said Murrue
"We are trying to escape the blast radius" she said
"We were all just bait to lure ZAFT in" she cried
"Understood" said Kira
"I will clear you a path" he said
The Freedom entered HiMAT mode and started destroying everything in their way. Once they were outside the blast radius the Cyclops system activated and vaporized everything in and around the base.
"Damn it" shouted Kira
"This is just going to make things worse" he shouted
He then sat back and started thinking about ZAFT's next move.
"They are going to look for a way to cripple the Alliance just like they have been" thought Kira
"I need to get to Orb as soon as possible" he thought
"What are you going to do now" asked Murrue
"I could ask you the same questions" said Kira
"We don't know" said Murrue
"I am going to Orb" said Kira
"Why don't you come with me" he asked
"I'm sure they will accept you" he said
"Ok" said Murrue
The hanger on the Archangel opened and the Freedom went inside and landed. Kira jumped out and saw the bridge and maintenance crews around it.
"Anyone that touches it, dies" said Kira releasing killing intent
"Of course," said Murrue quickly
"Good" said Kira smiling
"Where did you get it from" asked Mu
"I stole it from ZAFT" said Kira
He looked around and saw the Strike and Aegis were still here.
"I see that the Strike and Aegis are still here" said Kira
"That is because the Alliance couldn't get access to them" said Murrue
"That was your plan all along wasn't it" said Mu
"We were just following the standard operating procedure for mobile suits" said Kira smiling
Back at the PLANTs, Lacus, Karui, and Samui were watching Operation Spitbreak within their command center. Everyone's eyes widen in horror when the Cyclops system activated.
"A Cyclops system" said Lacus horrified
"There is a traitor within Zala's inner circle" said Karui
"They couldn't have built something like that so quickly" said Samui
"It must have been part of the original plans" said Lacus
"We have confirmed that the Freedom and the Archangel survived" said an operator
"That's good" said Lacus with relief
"What's the damage" asked Samui
"Calculating that now" said an operator
"About 80%" they said horrified
"That has crippled ZAFT's fighting strength on Earth" said Karui
"You need to stay here Lacus" said Samui
"You think Zala is going to use us as an escape goat" asked Lacus
"Yes" said Samui nodding her head
"Contact her father's forces and get them to evacuate him" she ordered
"Right away" said the operator
Karui helped Lacus get up and took her back to her room. Once inside she helped her onto the bed.
"This is worse than I imagined" said Lacus
"Didn't they do this before" asked Samui
"Yes, at Endymion" said Lacus nodding her head
"But that was just a base, this was their headquarters" she cried
"Which made it the perfect trap, since you were never think they would do that there" said Samui
"The Archangel being there just added to it" she said
"How is ZAFT going to retaliate" asked Karui
Lacus thought about it for a moment before getting up and going over to her computer. She started looking though it before she sat back with a sigh.
"They are going to destroy Panama" said Lacus
"Why go after the fake target" asked Karui
"There are three mass drivers left on Earth, one owned by each of the three powers" explained Lacus
"If ZAFT destroys it, the Alliance won't be able to send supplies into space" she continued
"Which will cripple the Alliance's space forces just like ZAFT's ground forces are" said Samui
"Correct" said Lacus
"That will cause the Alliance to scramble to get another one from Orb or Victoria" she said
"That means Orb is going to be attacked" said Samui
"How long until the Justice is ready" asked Karui
"A few more days" said Lacus
"Damn" growled Karui
"That should still give you enough time to get to Orb" said Lacus
Once the Justice was ready, Karui henged into the pilot and got into its cockpit.
"Do you understand your mission" asked the operator
"Yes, I am to destroy the Freedom and kill its pilot" said Karui
"Along with anyone that has seen it" added the operator
"Understood" said Karui
The Justice launched and headed towards Earth.
On Earth, the Archangel arrived in Orb and the Freedom took off and headed to Morgenroete. He landed in the hanger and jumped down. He saw that Cagalli and Chief Simmons were waiting for him.
"So, this is the mobile suit they built from the data" said Erica
"Very interesting" she said
"Karui will be along with its sister unit once the final adjustments are done on it" said Kira
"Kira, we need to talk" said Cagalli
"But you said it was Lacus' turn" said Kira
"Not about that" shouted Cagalli blushing madly
"Panama has been destroyed and there is an Alliance fleet on their way here" she said
"They plan to use us as a testing ground for their new Gundams piloted by the first generation of them" she growled
"We won't be able to hold them all back" she said
"The Archangel still has the Strike and the Aegis" said Kira
"We could modify the Strike to fly but the Aegis was never meant to be a ground unit" said Erica
"I don't think I could fight one of them by myself" said Cagalli
"Then we will blow them up" said Kira
"Since we are neutral, they have to give us time to comply with their demands" he explained
"During that time, we blow up the ship they are on" he continued
"They will be most likely on the flagship" he finished
"I take it you a shinobi way of doing it" asked Cagalli
"Of course," said Kira smiling
He then turned to Chief Simmons and said, "I figured it out."
"You did" exclaimed Erica
"How" she asked
"You have to fully commit to something" said Kira
"Interesting" said Erica
"Could anyone learn how to do it" she asked
"I think so since Samui was able to do it after I explained it" said Kira
Cagalli closed her eyes as she thought "I want to protect everyone I love and care about"
