Late.
because I was always and forever will be a die hard Outsiders fan. I do not own (sadly...)The Outsiders. The lovley S. E. Hinton does.
Sodapop Curtis got in late. Again.
Seeing as the lights were off, and the house was erie quiet, He figured that Darry hadn't waited up for him to get home, and went to sleep. He already knew Ponyboy was awake though, because every other night he came home late, there Pony was, sitting in the dark on their shared bed smiling when he opened the bedroom door.
He went in the kitchen to get a glass of water. Soda searched the wall for the light switch and flicked it on. He jumped out of his skin when he saw the gangs tuff, blonde hood shoving his face with a big piece of the chocolate cake and a glass of chocolate milk.
Sodapop rose a brow, putting even Two-Bit to shame. "Dally? What're you doin' here?" he questioned, voice low, walking over to get a cup. The blonde at the table swallowed his dessert and wiped the crumbs on the corner of his mouth.
"Hey, Soda. Just thought I'd fill my stomach before headin' off over ta Bucks." he said, a bit to loud for Soda's liking.
Soda shot him a glare, taking a sip of the water in his hands. "Keep it down, would ya? There're actually people hear tryin' to sleep."
Dally shrugged and chugged the rest of his milk, placing the cup in the sink in the process. Soda rolled his eyes and put his glass by the faucet, so he could use it later. Less dishes to wash, in his mind.
"Well, I'm out. See ya." Dally waved a little, and walked out the house, down the street. Soda sighed, clicking off the light, and dragged his feet slowly skipping over the sqeaky floorboard to his and Ponys room.
When he opened the door, he was pretty surprised to see his baby brother hugging his pillow, curled into a ball, and tears streaming down his pale cheek. Soda breathed in a sharp breath.
He took off his shoes, jeans, and shirt and slipped on a plain tee before quickly crawling into his side of the bed.
"Pone? Hey, Pony baby, you alright?" he whispered, shaking Ponys cold shoulder. Pony stirred, but didn't wake up.
Soda frowned. Pony was never the heavy sleeper, he was.
"Pony wake up, baby." he shook Ponys shoulder a bit harder, but gentle all the same. Pony sleepily opened one eye, and seeing it was his older brother, he pushed the pillow away from him and scooted close to him.
Soda put his pillow behind his head, and pulled the blankets over them. Draping an arm around Pony, he brought him even closer to his chest. An act of protection.
"You okay, Pone?" he mumbled into his hair. Pony wipped the tears from his face and gave Soda a small smile. "Ya, Im fine. Just a dream, thats all." Ponys sleepy voice muffled from his brothers chest.
Soda felt Pony shiver, and pulled him even tighter. Pony smiled bigger, and breathed in the scent of Sodapop. "Ya sure?" Soda tried again. Pony nodded his head slowly. "Mm sure."
Grinning, Soda planted a soft kiss on Ponys head and closed his eyes. "Alright, only if you're sure."
"Positive. You can go to sleep now, Soda." Ponys lip trembled, seeing the red mark on Sodas neck in the dim street light aluminating the room. He knew Soda was with Sandy, and it hurt him to think that Soda lied to him, again.
Pony held back a sob that wanted to erupt from his mouth, but kept it in, seeing as Soda was dozing off.
Soda blew warm air on Ponys forehead, thinking the trembling was 'cause he was cold. Which he was.
"Mmkay. Night Pone, sweet dreams." Soda mumbled, yawning. Pony closed his eyes. "Night, Soda." and then quietly, as if he didn't want Soda to hear him speak the words he whispered; "I love you."
But Soda heared them nontheless and leaned his head against Ponys. "I love you too, baby."
END.
