A/N: I am obsessed with Finchel right now, so I decided to write a little one-shot. This takes place during the summer between the junior and senior year.

Disclaimer: If I did own Glee this fanfic would be better.

Can't Get Much Better

Finn smiled at the beautiful brunette standing before him.

She was absolutely radiant in a simple black dress and heels and the smile she returned convinced his heart that it should it consider jumping from his chest. Though his vocabulary would never have been mistaken for an example of diversity, it usually featured more than the one word he could fathom at the sight of her.

"Rach," he offered breathlessly.

He didn't miss the satisfied look that passed across her face at the way she'd so obviously struck him. Sounding a little breathy herself, she asked, "What's the occasion?"

An hour ago he had texted her to be nicely dressed for a date and had refused to offer her any more details regarding what he had planned for the two of them.

"Do I need an occasion to want to take you out?" he replied.

Rachel laughed. God he loved that laugh…

"I guess not. Where are we going?"

"It's a surprise."

Rachel's smile never faltered.

"You look gorgeous," he complimented.

She blushed shyly and smiled again.

She descended the rest of the staircase. When she was close enough he pulled her in for a gentle kiss on the lips.

She pulled away and was beaming. It was short, but any type of touch from her set him on edge.

"Let's go," he whispered.

She nodded.

He grabbed her hand and led her to the doorway.

"Bye guys!" she yelled back to her dads.

"Remember your curfew," Hiram yelled in return.

"I'll have her back by 10," Finn replied before shutting the door.

Still hand-in-hand, he led her to his pick-up truck and opened the door for her.

"Thank you," she giggled.

"You're welcome," he replied, pleased to have made her smile.

The drive to their destination was filled with whatever the radio was playing that Rachel could sing along to.

She sang, clearly not trying, but sounding amazing anyway.

God, he loved he voice, whether it was singing or talking.

He parked by a spot in the woods and pulled out a blindfold.

She glanced at it and looked worried.

"This isn't some murder-suicide thing, because if it is-"she teased.

"No. It's part of the surprise." He gave her his most reassuring smile before tying it over her eyes.

He jogged over to the other side of the car and helped her out of the car.

He picked her up, bridal style, and walked to a spot by the river where they so often hung out at.

Except the surrounding trees were donned with twinkling lights and there was a picnic set up just by the river.

Music was playing softly.

He gently placed her down and untied the blindfold.

She gasped as she took in her surroundings.

She turned toward him and smiled brilliantly, with tears in her eyes.

Crap, I made her cry. What I do, he thought.

Sensing his worry, she pulled him into a deep kiss. The intensity of it almost made his heart explode with joy.

When they broke apart, she said, "This is amazing. Why did you do this?"

"I wanted to make you happy. I love you Rach," he whispered in reply.

"I love you, too. I am happy. You make me happy."

He absentmindedly cupped her face and wiped away a stray tear with his thumb.

"It can't get any better than this," she breathed.

"You can't get any better than this," he smiled.

She kissed him again until they were breathless.

After they ate the picnic, they gazed up at the stars, but Finn only looked at his beautiful Rachel

She was the only star he needed. Ever.
