Note: I've had this story swimming in my head for some time now but I never could find time to write it. Today, I couldn't resist anymore. I might fix this chapter later on. The chapters are going to be short, and there's only going to be around 11 chapters.
Summary: Logan has to leave Neptune so escape the Sorokin clan. Every year, Veronica receives love letters from Logan from different places of the world. Basically, Logan takes the "spanning Years and continents"of his epic speech literally.
Veronica can't remember the exact moment she realized she loved Logan Echolls. It could have been the time he gave her that sappy speech (which she totally fell for) about their love being epic. Maybe it was the time he saved her from Beaver. Or the first time they kissed. Or that time in the library when she admitted to him she wanted to open her heart to him, to truly trust him. Maybe it was last week when he gave her a triumphant smile after he beat to a bloody pulp that asshole who leaked Veronica's scandal video.
Maybe it was all of those times.
What Veronica does know is that as Logan was about to board the plane to take him to New York (and from there disappear to god knows where…as long it's far far away from the Sorokin clan) all she wanted to do was to ask him to stay. To tell him that she'll find a way to protect him as long as he stays because stupid little Ronnie just realized how much she loved him.
But she can't. Who was Veronica kidding? Logan had to go. She can't protect him. A lot of good my taser will do taking down the Russian mafia.
Besides, it was all her fault Logan was in this mess. This was her punishment.
"I'm going to be ok, Ronnie. Don't worry."
She gave him the most assuring smile she could muster. "Me? Worry? I planned this remember? Of course you'll be ok!" That's right, Mars, just keep telling yourself that and maybe you'll believe it eventually, she thought to herself.
Logan laughed. "I never thought I'd do a Duncan. Hey, maybe I'll bump into him while I'm on the run!"
Veronica's smile disappeared. "Logan, take this seriously ok? Don't just do a Duncan…do a better job than he did. Remember what I said: Lay low. Never reveal your real name, even just your first name. Avoid going out…"
"Never stay in a place for more than two weeks…," Logan continue, "Don't go to the cities where the Sorokins operate. Do not attempt to contact anyone from Neptune. Yes, Veronica, I'm heard this a million times. I won't get myself killed, don't worry."
Before Veronica could answer, the speakers called out Logan's flight number.
"Well, that's my flight. I guess this is goodbye Ronnie. Don't get into trouble while I'm gone okay? I won't be here to save you anymore." He had an earnest look in his eyes. He wasn't saying anything but Veronica could feel his love from the way he looked at her. I wish I was able to show him that I love him just as much. I'm just a coward. He was always the strong one.
He was so close. Veronica wanted to kiss him like she kissed him almost three years ago at the Camelot. Instead, Veronica fixed the collar of Logan's jacket, choking back her tears as she tried to memorize everything about him. This smell. Him. I'm going to miss him. Will I ever see him again? Stupid Veronica! Tell him how you feel.
"Logan…I-…" Veronica fumbled, What's wrong with me? Just tell him!
Logan smiled. "It's okay Veronica. I know. You don't have to say it." He gave her a soft kiss on the forehead. "Say it when we see each other again."
"What if that never happens Logan?" Veronica worriedly asked.
Logan gave her that cheeky grin of his that she both loved and hated. "Of course it will , sugarpuss. Don't you get it yet? Across continents, spanning years, remember?"
He gave her one last wink and walked away.
