"Hayden, what did I tell you about staying away from her!"

Shoulders shrugging, she instinctively tightened her grip around the handle of the sharp blade. "Violet's a big girl, Tate. Don't you think she can handle herself?"

"Why..." Tate's eyes were on her, fixed in a dead stare she could feel them burning clean through her even with her own eye line aptly diverted. "Why did you tell her?"

"Oh, Tate." Hayden flashed him a subdued smirk. "Did you honestly think she wasn't going to find out? It was only a matter of time before she did."

Shifting on her heel, she moved off towards him, twirling the blade between her fingers. "Plus, I didn't do anything wrong, so to speak. All I did was nudged her in the right direction."

"Hayden..."

Eyes narrowing down, her death-like eyes, devoid of all emotions, her words seemed to cut Tate's very soul like the cold breath of a grave. "It's such a pity to know when it comes to this house, evil often triumphs."

Tate nearly choking on his tears, launched himself in a dead sprint towards Violet's bedroom, running on little more than a good shot of adrenaline.

Hayden stared at the scene with a grim and shuddering fascination.

"Violet... Something has changed in you... Towards me. You're distant, cold... I don't know what I've done, but I'll leave you alone from now on if that's what you want. Is that what you want? You know why I'd leave you alone? Because I care about your feelings more than mine. I love you. There, I said it and not just on some chalkboard. I would never let anybody or anything hurt you. I've never felt that way about anyone..."

"Come here."

Tate moved towards the bed, commenting quietly. "I'm tired."

"Me too."

Moira chewed her lower lip anxiously, unknowingly caught between Hayden's line of vision.

"The Devil... I wonder if she knows he exist." Hayden interjected, quietly watching the scene unfold. "With the world being such a filthy place, I wouldn't be surprised if she did."

Moira heart almost stop beating, stricken into silence, the maid quietly swallowed back the growing lump in her throat.

"The devil is real. And he's not a little red man with horns and a tail, he's a fallen angel. With that being said, he can be beautiful. Oh, so very beautiful."

Whether it was currently to be taken as some sort of threat or just simple reminder, it was quite clear that Hayden wasn't quiet done with them just yet.
