Utopia Scott's office 8 hours after Bastion's attack.

There was a knock at the door.

"Come in." said Scott.

Kurt entered the room.

"Hello Scott we need to talk."

Scott looked at his friend. He had a feeling he knew what Kurt was going to say.

"I'm thinking of leaving." Kurt said.

"There must be a reason why you haven't left yet." Scott said hoping to prolong the conversation.

Kurt was a good friend and he hoped he could get Kurt to understand his point of view.

"You deserved to hear it from me." Kurt replied.

"Look Kurt I don't like this anymore than you do but it's necessary for our survival." he reasoned.

Kurt cut him off.

"I've already had this conversation with Logan."

as he remembered yelling at the man who he considered one of his best friends. He decided to say his piece.

"I've followed you for a long time Scott and you'll always be my mien freund but this isn't working."

Scott shook his head in disbelief

"How can you say it isn't working if we're alive?"

"Because we have lost sight of the dream. That's what I signed on for."

Scott was beginning to get angry.

" We can't fight for the dream while were being targeted left and right!"

"Not everyone is out to kill us!" Kurt replied losing his temper as well.

"Damn it Kurt I'm trying to save our entire species!"

"The same could be said of Erik, and we all know where that path lead him!"

Both men took a deep breath.

"This argument is getting us nowhere. I'm leaving." Kurt said.

" Kurt if you leave others will follow you. I need everyone here we're still X-men Kurt." Scott said hoping he was not losing another friend.

"Are we? Because when I look at us and where were going I don't see X-men. At best I see X-corps, At worst I see us becoming X-force. You know how I feel about both of those organizations." was the bitter reply.

"Where will you go?"

"England, perhaps I'll try to reform Excalibur. If anyone wishes to join me it's their decision. Goodbye Scott."

Kurt quickly bamfed away. Before Scott could try to talk him out of it.

Scott just stared where his friend once was. He looked at the wall and blasted it in frustration. Despite everything he did to prevent the team from falling apart he had just lost the person that many including himself believed was the X-men's heart.
